Tufty with a one-sided tuft yesterday. She always looks so hopeful yet inquisitive. It was a beautiful day yesterday. The call of the curlew being carried on the wind, then two spotted overhead. Also, a buzzard and red kite soaring gently above me sometimes clashing for territory

Stumbled across this Turkish stone ball that was hurled into Vienna in the unsuccessful Ottoman siege of 1683. It's one of several across the city. Some aren't even original but made in commemoration in later years. Cities never forget the terror and trauma of a siege.

Going through my photo bank I came across this photo of the grave of a young lad from Newfoundland. Killed 14/4/1917 aged just 16. A long way from home. On that day the Newfoundland Regiment together with the 1st Essex attacked Infantry Hill to the east of Monchy-le-Preux. More.

It's pouring down here this morning. Herdy Bear during #StormÉowyn I don't think she could have tucked herself any closer to the wall for shelter from the wind. Love the vibrant colours of the moss & and lichen, bringing brightness on these gloomier days #herdwicks #nature #farm
