Bottom line...
The offer to make Canada an "associate member" of the EU is falling apart within days of being announced. The Telegraph reports EU diplomats say the term is empty and member states were never consulted before the announcement was made. 🧵👇 (1/8)

Listen to this Canadian.... it matters...
Because a debate after the deal, is not a debate it is a rubber stamp. Thet call it the People's House for a reason, and right now the people are finding our about their own future from an American newspaper - Ben Mulroney tells it like it is...

Exactly...
Is AI really going to kill us all? The scenarios are preposterous, and the presumption of inevitability encourages fatalism, panic, and distraction from the more mundane and realistic safety challenges. By @clairlemon theaustralian.com.au/inquire…

I'll be at Brighton v Arsenal today. Few remember it was John Prescott who overturned the University's attempt to block the stadium. Classic working class town v obstructive gown, battle. From muddy Goldstone to Europe and Premiership, chasing trophies. bbc.co.uk/sport/football/art…

Chelsea see what happens when you have a tiny annoying Argentinian (Barco) defending your far post. And a 35 and 36 year old on pitch. Brentford 3 Chelsea 0

Getting a bit tired of people at conferences telling me how bad AI is. They barely use it, don’t seem to read anything, watch the news, have any curiosity. If it erases this level of middle management, the world will be a better place.

The reality...
Canada already has a trade deal with the EU (CETA) but in 2025, the UK alone bought more more goods from Canada (6.4% of Canadian exports) than the whole EU (5.5%). The UK's imports from Canada increased by 154% since 2021 using CETA and now we are both members of the CPTPP. Meanwhile the US alone bought 73% of all Canadian exports in 2025. Canada's second largest export market was the UK, then China, then Japan. But Carney wants to become an EU "associate" member. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 The EU doesn’t even use the trade agreement they already have with Canada, (which took 7 years to negotiate.) 🙄 Carney’s ‘meaningless’ EU offer unravels telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2…

After the initial PS splurge, reality sets in....
This joining the E.U. psyop (i.e. manufactured consent) being pumped into the minds of Canadians is insane. A thread. Europe is crumbling economically and politically. This is because of the same policy set (and people?) that have caused the worst economic stagnation in Canada in a generation. Naive 'Green' energy policy has gutted its industrial base; the insatiable leviathan of public spending; and a regulatory boa constrictor that protects incumbents and crushes entrepreneurial spirit and, yes, mass immigration. Germany, Europe's most important economy, is hemorrhaging jobs. For 17 months and counting, employment has shrunk.

This will go down as the image that says 'peak delusion' among the institutional class, one that literally now hates its own people, and embraces causes that simply satisfy their own, narcissistic expressions of virtue.
Perhaps no image better encapsules how our elites are living in a make-believe world. The image says: 1) We're on the same side, this is reconciliation between us. 2) We're on completely different sides, there can be no conciliation between us.

Let's create one huge economically stagnant, bureaucratic bloc that will push its populations, in desperation, even further to the right. That's the reality of the Carney, EU, NZ, Aus proposal. Alternatively create a 'common market' (what is was originally), free from the Byzantine encumbrances of Brussels. Then you can include the UK. Here's the rub... this would mean dismantling undemocratic power across the club, and the committee will not allow that.

Lanier is right, the Digital God Illusion is an artefact of overactive imaginations, the result of metaphor not mind. Agent(ic) is not always necessary and there's no reason for it to be standard. Ignore the quitters - stay and solve, don't quit and cash-in. Acknowledge data dignity. Stop pretending to be people. Hold back on anthropomorphism and attribution of human identity to AI.

Democracy bypassed? No votes by people on these sovereign changes, on either side. New form of EU membership, erosion of sovereignty. All by technocrats.

Tesla has a semi?
🚨 Morgan Stanley just raised its $TSLA bull case to $840, and the Tesla Semi is a big reason why@ Brian White @FutureAZA highlights the economics behind it: autonomous trucking could mean 2.3x better utilization, 20% lower cost per mile, and up to 6x more profit per truck. The wild part is FSD pricing. Consumer FSD is around $100/month. Semi FSD could be worth $12,000–$18,000 per truck, per month. That could turn autonomous trucking software into a $15B business by 2040! If Tesla can make autonomy work at scale, the Semi may end up being far more than just another vehicle. 🚀

Mmmm....
What do we know about Jacob Coxon, the Anthropic “whistleblower”? He became concerned about AGI doom in high school (in the town of Oxford btw - see my previous posts) after reading Nick Bostrom’s book Superintelligence. Attended Cambridge, during which time he went to an alignment conference at age 19. He then became a fellow at Newspeak (yes, really) House, which received EA funding and hosted Jeremy Corbyn’s Digital Democracy Manifesto launch. In 2022 he received a scholarship from a Moskovitz-funded org. Moskovitz is one of the leading EA donors, and an early Anthropic investor. The 80,000 Hours project (also funded indirectly by Moskovitz) explicitly encourages EAs to infiltrate frontier labs to influence them from the inside. None of this, in itself, proves that he is wrong about AI safety. What it does indicate is that he was already sold on the idea as a teenager, before he worked in the labs, before GPT-1 came out. I think good epistemic practice means we should therefore take him no more seriously than any other doomer. His experience in the labs didn’t convince him AI is dangerous. He already believed that even before the current AI paradigm became dominant, and probably chose his career based on this belief. If you’re convinced by Bostrom’s arguments yourself, that’s fine. But Coxon adds precisely zero additional weight to them.

If I were that robot, I'd give him a slap...
Figure just took a big step toward useful home robots. Its Helix 2.5 humanoids tidied rooms, folded towels, and made beds across 30 unfamiliar homes, without training in those homes. Pretraining on human behavior boosted full task success from 9% to 56%, over 6x higher. We're so close... more details: Zero-shot whole-body autonomy across 30 real homes. Helix 2.5 performs three long-horizon behaviors across 30 unseen homes, with no data collection, fine-tuning, or adaptation in those environments or manipulated objects. To our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of zero-shot whole-body generalization at this scope on a humanoid. One foundation model, three whole-body behaviors. A single Index-pretrained base model was adapted to three distinct behaviors spanning locomotion, rigid and deformable manipulation, bimanual coordination, and active perception. Index pretraining drives generalization. Holding task-specific data, architecture, training, and evaluation fixed, Index pretraining alone increased zero-shot success from 9% to 56%. Behavior specification got 2x cheaper while its scope expanded 30x. Helix 2.5 used half as much task-specific data as a representative Helix 02 behavior, then generalized that behavior across 30 unseen homes. A human-to-humanoid robot transfer scaling law. Repeatedly doubling Index pretraining data improved downstream robot-action prediction smoothly enough to forecast our largest run’s loss to four decimal places before training.

Astounding…
Two days ago, GPT-6 Astra broke a yet unsolved German Army Enigma message from 1941. Amazingly Astra was able to autonomously: - Search historical archives - Compare uncertain letters - Find contextual clues - Build an Enigma simulator - Write cryptanalysis code - Run parallel experiments - Test competing keys - Recover the plaintext - Cross-check the results 1/n
