If the @mngop (Minnesota) believes Demuth can win, let it demonstrate that belief through serious organizing, substantive policy, financial support, and an effective statewide campaign. If it does not, Minnesota Republicans should stop confusing the act of nominating someone with the act of preparing that person to govern. I am not predicting her defeat. I am questioning the party's willingness to distinguish a serious electoral strategy from an exercise in political wishful thinking. “Minnesota Republicans have House Speaker Lisa Demuth as their candidate for governor in 2026. I wish her well as an individual and recognize that seeking the state's highest office requires considerable commitment. But the circumstances surrounding her candidacy deserve serious scrutiny.
Is the Minnesota GOP genuinely building a competitive, statewide governing movement, or is it simply selecting a candidate to carry the party banner into another difficult election? Because there is a difference between offering a candidate a genuine opportunity to win and handing someone a campaign, a microphone, a collection of talking points, and a prayer.”
