30% AI. 70% me. 100% ignored. This is my game, Solitaire: Kingdom in Chains. It took me 3 months to build. Not 6 hours and a magic prompt. I worked with Photoshop, Cubase, Filmora, Claude Code, and Codex. I designed, edited, tested, fixed, rebuilt, and polished until I had something I was proud to release. But apparently, none of that matters anymore. Because the moment Steam puts that little AI disclosure on your game, some people have already decided it's garbage without even looking at it. Three months of work? Irrelevant. The actual gameplay? Irrelevant. Whether the game is good or bad? Also irrelevant. AI was involved. Case closed. I'm not asking anyone to buy my game out of sympathy. Hell, I'm not even asking you to like it. I'm asking you to judge the damn game, not the tools used to make it. Because if using AI means your work automatically has no value, then we've stopped judging creativity and started policing toolboxes. Here's the gameplay. Judge it for yourself. store.steampowered.com/app/5…

Everyone playing Fortnite is playing a game made with AI, everyone making a UE game going forward is using an engine made with AI, the AI labels are useless and dumb.
CONFIRMED Products of Epic Games being Developed with AI use Right Now:🔴 🔰Fortnite 🔰Disney Mode 🔰Unreal Engine 6 🔰Epic Games Store Expect probably Rocket League + Fall Guys to also have heavy AI use in their craft from now on WHILE: The AI use was never limited to Coding only, It was said maximum AI acceleration, Art and other things will be effected too nothing is safe

This is exactly what's happening.
Tim's making a really important point here and I think people fundamentally misunderstand it. Let's paint a scenario. You are an indie developer and you want to make a game. Traditional game development will take you 1 year and cost you $200,000 in outsourcing costs to buy art, animation, and additional programming resources. AI assisted game development will take you 3 months and cost you $50,000 in credits + some additional resources. In a good scenario your game could make $200,000 and break even, but in many scenarios you mortgage your house and no one sees your game and you are out your savings. Now, with the anti-AI mania, Valve is forcing real economic harm on you because you get the equivalent of hate mobs at your door for your choice of tooling. Your economic viability is harmed because Valve chooses to put a label on you that generates negative attention. It makes your economics worse. Anti-AI proponents will point out that this proves their hate campaigns work. The appeal is not to them, because they are morons, but to developers to stand up to Valve and say remove these labels so that we can have livelihoods. And Valve makes money of you either way. Stand up for your rights, devs!

Epic has done this many times. That’s why it’s so inspiring to support them. - Epic vs Apple lawsuit - Perfecting the F2P model - Game distribution without junk fees - Free game dev tools - Tung Tung Tung - Cross platform gaming Epic Games has become the industry’s lightning rod, drawing concentrated criticism so that independent developers may continue building/innovating in relative peace.
“We vibe coded”. Based. They’re leaning in all the way and becoming the lightning rod for all the AI hatred of the gaming industry. That’s actually a noble sacrifice people don’t realize. That means that when other companies do even a little less obvious AI stuff all the angry people will still focus on Epic. Good guy Epic.

Speed was the first thing everyone pointed out to not use EGS. Now they fixed that (it’s also way more RAM friendly than Steam) and the goalpost shifts. Eventually they will get all of that and finally people will admit that they just want to have their games on the same platform
We don't like Epic Games Launcher because: it sucks doesn't have a proper profile page doesn't have customization doesn't have a good UI doesn't have a review system doesn't have a workshop doesn't have a good achievement system doesn't have profile backgrounds doesn't have custom profile pictures (in the same way as Steam) doesn't have enough social features doesn't have a good chat system doesn't have a community hub doesn't have user reviews doesn't have a proper modding system doesn't have a great library layout doesn't have enough features compared to Steam doesn't have a good reputation forces exclusivity deals keeps running in the background makes downloading games a pain gives away free games but still feels worse than Steam tries too hard to compete with Steam instead of improving the launcher

Steam zaorany. Ciekawe czy fanboye steam będą wymagać od steam by uruchamiał się szybciej od epiczka czy już nagle nie będzie to problemem. XD Brawo @TimSweeneyEpic
We vibe coded the Epic Games Launcher to be faster than the other guy. Don't believe us? Test it out for yourself in Preview: launcher.epicgames.com

Brawo epiczek. Brawo @TimSweeneyEpic
We have a huge pivot underway here at Epic, moving developers around to retool for maximum AI acceleration. The aim isn't to do the same stuff with fewer people, but to enable everyone here to build MORE and BETTER stuff, and to bring the benefits to all teams using Unreal.

Brawo @EpicGames, brawo @TimSweeneyEpic, 100k preorderów i to tylko w 1 tydzień.
We've reached over 100k pre-orders in our first week! Thank you all so much for the incredible support so far ❤️ When we started this journey, we were just four friends with a dream. We never thought something like this could be possible for our very first game. It still doesn't feel real. Thank you for believing in us!

Replying to @Domuru_ @sovolqa
co to są obowiązki typowo męskie i kobiece? przez takie stwierdzenia właśnie trudno mi uwierzyć w to że to ty jesteś ofiarą

Brawo epiczek.
Thanks to Epic veteran Steve Allison for launching the Epic Games Store in 2018 and driving it to 78 million monthly active users today! Epic Games Store has new leadership lined up and we'll be making an announcement on July 27 ahead of big plans for 2026 and 2027.

And tbh, the anti-AI people are often ridiculous. We got review bombed because we remastered a game and used Topaz to upscale some of the paintings from 720p to 1080p. But we dutifully "disclosed" that AI upscaling was used.
