I was paid 125k for Deadpool Team Up in 2024. It was NOT pushed by Marvel despite a billion dollar movie in theaters. The since fired sales manager would not return my requests. I’ve made millions of dollars in the creator owned space since leaving Marvel. I was working at a significant loss but did so thinking they would at least push the work. YOU control your destiny in creator owned, it doesn’t have to be Image, but I’d recommend a conversation. Never too late to break out.

Creators, what are you being paid for your work at the major labels? You could triple that with doing a creator owned comic. Compensation matters. You work hard and the majority of you aren’t on comics in the top 10. Neither was Brett Bean. By my math he’s become a millionaire in 2026. You can do better with your talents.

The only time I drew a Star Wars Pic. A commission about 20 years back.

A cover I did for Cable/Deadpool.

This is a great time for talent in the comic field to take charge of every aspect of their career. There a number of creators who have changed every aspect of their artistic destiny and fortunes. It’s exciting to watch. The prosperity they are experiencing relieves burdens, doubts, and opens up the opportunities for them that they would not have otherwise. It’s so much more than financial even considering that particular windfall. Get after it. Break free.
