"Just as Christ came into this world only once, clothed in our flesh, He is also ready to come again, at any moment, to dwell spiritually in our hearts with the profusion of His graces, as long as we do not resist Him.” – St Charles Borromeo, whose feast is today (4 Nov).

Today, 3 November, the @Dominican_Order rejoices on the feast of St Martin de Porres:
"Martin was born in Lima, Peru in 1579, the son of a Spanish nobleman named Juan and a black freedwoman, Anna Velasquez. Among all the saints, he bears witness to the sufferings and oppression of the black peoples in the New World. He was a barber’s assistant until he sought to be associated with Saint Dominic’s Order and was enrolled among the laity of the Priory of Our Lady of the Rosary in Lima, where in 1603 he was admitted to solemn vows. Endowed with marvellous simplicity, innocence and faith, he gained a reputation for his humble gifts, and indeed was exalted by God with heavenly gifts and charisms. With a burning piety for the eucharist and the passion of our Redeemer, he lived a life fully devoted to the poor through works of love, and especially the sick, and even to animals. He has worthily been designated the heavenly patron of co-operator brothers. He loved fasting, the harshest penance, and prayer, especially at night, after the example of Jesus, drawing from that shining light in a marvellous way the principles of Christian doctrine.
Martin died at Lima on 3 November 1639, was beatified by Gregory XVI in 1837 and canonised by John XXIII on 6 May 1962. He draws to himself the souls of all inhabitants of America, both North and South, not only on account of his remarkable humility, attractive though that is in itself, but because he was in his own person a signal leading people to holiness."

Holiness is not a privilege reserved for a few, but a universal vocation that speaks to each of us where we live. This is the hope-filled message of today’s feast: God sees the good that we do not see, knows stories that we do not know, and reaches hearts to which we have no access.
Happy solemnity of All Saints!
"Let us long for those who are longing for us, hasten to those who are waiting for us, and ask those who look for our coming to intercede for us. We should not only want to be with the saints, we should also hope to possess their happiness."
May these offerings we bring in honour of all the Saints
be pleasing to you, O Lord,
and grant that, just as we believe the Saints
to be already assured of immortality,
so we may experience their concern for our salvation.
Through Christ our Lord.

Today, the Church celebrates the Memorial of Pope St. John Paul II.
Through the Rosary, he encouraged the faithful to seek the face of Christ and pray for peace. May he inspire us to follow where Our Lady always leads: to Jesus.
Pope St. John Paul II, pray for us!

"I am often asked, especially by young people, why I became a priest… It is impossible to explain entirely, for it remains a mystery, even to myself… Yet, I know that at a certain point in my life, I became convinced that Christ was saying to me what he had said to thousands before me: 'Come, follow me!' There was a clear sense that what I heard in my heart was no human voice, nor was it just an idea of my own. Christ was calling me to serve Him as a priest."

I would like to thank all those who have prayed for me in recent days. I wish to express my particular gratitude to the doctors, nurses and all the staff of the Gemelli Hospital. This experience has made me feel particularly close to all those who are living with illness or infirmity. Now that I have overcome this delicate phase I will gradually resume my activities, always with God’s help and your prayers.

"Pour out on us, we pray, O Lord,
the spirit with which you so remarkably endowed
Saint Margaret Mary,
so that we may come to know
that love of Christ which surpasses all understanding
and be utterly filled with your fullness.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever."

"Staying focused in mental prayer is hard. Maybe we get lost in daydreams, or anxiously flit from one topic to another; maybe we’re thinking deep thoughts completely unrelated to the intended meditation, or simply spacing out. But if our mind is caught up in distraction, then we aren’t present – it's like talking with a friend who is also scrolling their phone.
Happily, the beads of the Rosary are a great ally."
