He’s not saying “no” which is interesting. I see some confusion around him saying not in the near future which makes sense. Ultimately battinson was planned as a trilogy.
I wonder if he’s waiting for the “reeves verse” to be complete before fully weighing his options.
James Gunn when asked about the possibility of Robert Pattinson’s Batman crossing over with Clayface and the DCU.
“Probably not. Not in the near future. That’s for sure.”

At this point, James Gunn needs to get off the pot and figure out how to bring Matt Reeves’ Batman into the larger DCU.
I’ve been saying this for almost four years, and the argument keeps getting stronger.
THE BATMAN made $772 million worldwide. SUPERMAN made about $619 million. SUPERGIRL cratered at roughly $126 million.
Meanwhile, CLAYFACE was literally developed by Matt Reeves and Mike Flanagan as part of Reeves’ larger Gotham ideas before Gunn and Safran decided to fold it into the DCU.
So just split the difference.
Make THE BATMAN and its Gotham stories the earlier chapter of the DCU. Pattinson doesn’t even need to become the Batman of THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD. Cast an older Bruce for that era, one who has already gone through Robin, Nightwing, Damian, all of it.
Now you have history.
You have a Gotham that existed before Superman changed the world.
You have a Batman audiences already bought into, while still leaving room for an older DCU Batman later.
Because honestly, how many more years are we going to spend waiting for THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD while DC’s most bankable character sits in an Elseworlds box?
THE BATMAN PART II is already dealing with another bizarre production situation, Reeves is temporarily away, and Soderbergh is finishing principal photography.
Maybe this is the moment to stop pretending these universes need to remain sacred and separate.
The DCU needs Batman.
You already have Batman.
Use him.
Waterworld on here is a tough sell. I’d rather a bigger Jurassic area or something Nintendo coded if they have the rights (Pokémon pls)
Cringe post. It’s giving *silence brand* but for what it’s worth I hope the game smashes it.
That’s fighting talk after all.

James Gunn teases that they’re open to doing a ‘BATMAN BEYOND’ film in the future.
“I love Batman Beyond. So that's a great thing for the future. And I think that's something that originated in animation that could be a good movie.”
