Why doesn't the Chronicle mention of how much the striking musicians earn? they get paid quite well; roughly the same as SF's firefighters. Base section player $118,000–$124,000 for a 24-week season, minimum guarantee $124,055.95. Weekly base rate of $3,888 is among the highest in the U.S. - and it all goes up from there.

a muni employee proudly told me the bus shelter glass is free because clear channel replaces it because they earn money running ads on and pay muni so i asked why muni took a pay cut on the ads in 2022 and he said so clear channel could replace more glass so i said it sounds like muni is paying a billboard company in billboards to feed glass to crazy people with hammers and then he started crying

She’s sick, she’s not in her right mind. She needs help, and she needs to be stopped from harming other girls with her example right now. Anyone enabling this or helping to promote it is evil. Full stop.
Without public shaming, the industry won’t intervene, her family won’t intervene. They’re all collecting checks as she melts away, and they’ll likely make more if she dies.

Got approached by two park rangers in full gear today for teaching tennis to my own children. Empty park, 3:15pm on a Thursday.
No permit, $192 fine. Unless you can prove the students came out of you. I asked my kids to confirm I’m their dad.
Somewhere in San Francisco an actual crime is happening, but at least the forehand situation is under control.
Not a great use of city resources. But that’s just my opinion. 🤷🏻♂️🎾

SF is lowering speed limits near schools, and the Chronicle asked Waymo if they would comply, even though its cars follow laws by design.

A couple weeks ago, I came home and my wife, Silvia, said something I almost couldn’t believe.
She looked at me and she said, “I think our state needs you.” Because she believed I could help our kids. Help San José. And help California.
And if you know anything about Silvia — when she talks, you listen.
So I’m running for Governor of California — because we can do better.
I know we can, because we’re proving it in San Jose.
We’ve reduced unsheltered homelessness by nearly 1/3rd after a decade of growth. We were rated the safest big city in America last year for the first time in over 20 years. We’re the only city to have solved 100% of homicides nearly 4 years running. And we’re taking on affordability with urgency and honesty — unlocking thousands of housing units in the past couple years.
We need to stand up for our rights, for our freedoms and for our neighbors. We need to use the tools we have at hand to protect our democracy.
One tool is the law. The other tool is our results. We have to use both.
That’s how we fix California.
We don’t just need to be against something. We need to be for something — a government that proves it can solve problems for working people again.
And before we ask Californians to give more, we owe them proof that their government can do better.
So I’m running to bring focus back to government. To give cities the tools they need to succeed. To show that the best resistance to division is results.
And to prove that California can work again — for everyone.
That’s why I’m running.
And that’s the future Silvia and I are fighting for.

Residents overwhelmingly passed Prop 36 — but you wouldn’t know it if you looked at our streets today. Rather than carry out the will of the voters, Sacramento has refused to fund the measure, effectively setting it up to fail. That’s not what the people voted for — and it’s not a decision lawmakers should get to make after the fact. When voters approve a measure, implementation isn’t optional. Budgets are a reflection of our values. And if we’re not willing to prioritize public safety, treatment, and accountability with real dollars, then we’re choosing dysfunction over results.
