Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! Today, September 15, is also the eve of Mexico’s Independence Day.
We celebrated at school today with our teachers dressed in gorgeous traditional outfits and Dra. Rendon rolled around with conchas, orejas, and Manzanita Sol. So proud of our roots!

Kicked off our leadership academy today, and our students completely stole the show—from the mariachi performances and student MCs to a great math panel and lunch service. Wonderful connecting with my community of practice, too. Feeling grateful and ready for the year ahead.
A great day at #ATDLE2026 Supported a parent of two of my students (and fellow SDUSD teacher) as she presented on teacher collaboration and planning in dual language education, enjoyed lunch getting to know our new first-grade teacher, and reconnected with my TX principal friend!

This honor is a testament to our amazing community and our dedication to supporting our military-connected students and families.
I wholeheartedly believe teachers will do anything for kids if they feel valued. Since 2023, I’ve watched the John Muir staff give their all despite the huge mental toll of the job. Good teachers are never appreciated enough. That’s why Staff Appreciation Week is a non-negotiable
My heart is seriously overflowing today. ❤️
A huge thank you to my amazing students, staff, and families for all the flowers, cards, and thoughtful gifts. Walking into my office and seeing so much love honestly reminded me why I show up every day.
