A frequent tool of dictators is to label political opposition groups as "terrorist groups" and shut them down. This bill - up for a vote this week - would give Trump the power to do just that. It's disastrous. And apparently there are House Democrats CONSIDERING VOTING FOR IT!
⚡️ UPDATE: The bill to let Trump “crush dissent” (HR 9495) will see a floor vote Wednesday. Call your reps.

This shit should be a much bigger story. The Nat Security folks are raising the alarm because if this doesn’t get done, the new team won’t be ready on day one, and we will be vulnerable to bad guys like Putin. (Which is probably the goal). Why isn’t the media talking about this?
Trump still hasn't signed the required ethics agreement because he doesn’t plan to abide by it, which means his team has not been getting critical information they need regarding our national security before taking over the federal government in 72 days. So that’s fun.

The sun rose where I am. I spent the night not sleeping in my hotel room. It was dark and slow and lonely. I had thought if it happened it wouldn’t be as hard as last time. Because it would be less of a shock. But it was harder, actually, and for the same reason. No one went into this naively. This was chosen. But now my people are checking in with me, and vice versa. The sun is up. I already feel less alone. This is me checking in with you: you’re not alone and you’re NOT wrong. This is going to feel bad. It’s going to BE bad. But the sun rose. You deserve its warmth, every day, and we are already closer to a future in which this will be the fucked up past. Take care of one another and yourself. See you tonight if that’s helpful to you.

Election Day By Walt Whitman If I should need to name, O Western World, your powerfulest scene and show, 'Twould not be you, Niagara—nor you, ye limitless prairies—nor your huge rifts of canyons, Colorado, Nor you, Yosemite—nor Yellowstone, with all its spasmic geyser-loops ascending to the skies, appearing and disappearing, Nor Oregon's white cones—nor Huron's belt of mighty lakes—nor Mississippi's stream: —This seething hemisphere's humanity, as now, I'd name—the still small voice vibrating—America's choosing day, (The heart of it not in the chosen—the act itself the main, the quadriennial choosing,) The stretch of North and South arous'd—sea-board and inland—Texas to Maine—the Prairie States—Vermont, Virginia, California, The final ballot-shower from East to West—the paradox and conflict, The countless snow-flakes falling—(a swordless conflict, Yet more than all Rome's wars of old, or modern Napoleon's:) the peaceful choice of all, Or good or ill humanity—welcoming the darker odds, the dross: —Foams and ferments the wine? it serves to purify—while the heart pants, life glows: These stormy gusts and winds waft precious ships, Swell'd Washington's, Jefferson's, Lincoln's sails. – hat tip @NicholsUprising, who adds: To the polls, Americans, to the polls!

This is the eve of Election Day. It’s tempting to presume that there’s nothing left to talk about, but there’s always more to say. *What do you want to know?* That’s the question I put to followers today. A THREAD
