Disappointed to see local contractor removing a large proportion of the biomass (~40%) of a local walnut tree during bird breeding season, against Arboriculture Association code of practice. I hope a thorough nest check was done first so this is ‘just’ poor practice, not illegal.

Shout out to @marksandspencer Cheltenham bureau de change for going old school - pocket calculators and carbon paper - in the wake of the cyber attack to keep show on the road, still smiling despite the extra work!

.@skyf1 why spoil the sprint race that aired in the UK in the early hours by giving the result as the opening words of quali coverage at 06:35 UK time before you have even televised the formal re-run? #DisappointedFan

This research is the first to show a likely link between beaver recolonisation and increased bat activity, acting as a springboard for future studies 🦇

New research from @uogbioscience found a 205% increase in the richness of larvae/nymphs of emergent species, an 817% boost in their abundance & 42% rise in bat activity at beaver sites compared to the control. Dive into the research 👇 eprints.glos.ac.uk/14265/1/1… @Dockling83 @_BCT_

Tried the amazing Seeing AI app yesterday. Aimed at blind / partially sighted people, it gives a spoken summary of what a phone camera sees - general scenes, product descriptions via bar codes, reading cooking instructions etc. Only had a quick play but it seems very good.

Avian air traffic control issues in the garden today. Mr & Mrs Swallow have returned from their winter sojourn to find Mr Wren has “wrenovated” their old mud nest by building up the sides with moss. They are most displeased with this and are saying so… loudly #BirdNestPlotTwist

Why are lambs extremely able to find ways out of fields but are completely unable to reverse the process to find their way back in again?! I’ve reunited two errant offspring with their mums today and had to ask neighbour for help with amother entangled in the hedge 🐑
