Last week’s Sanofi Rare Days was a true full-circle moment. 💜 Reconnecting with Prof. Maria Domenica Cappellini—whom I first met more than a decade ago in the SCD at the @ASH_hematology Annual meeting and later while advancing CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing—was especially meaningful.
Congratulations to Dr. Cappellini & Prof. Amal El-Beshlawy, Sanofi 2026 Rare Luminaries. Also I have a great sense of gratitude to the PAG community, patients, clinicians, researchers & colleagues inspiring us to make the impossible possible for rare. #RareDays #RareDiseases
Enjoying #WarriorCON2026 with new and old friends in the #sicklecell community
inspiring conversations, meaningful connections, and shared commitment to improving the lives of those living with sickle cell disease. #SickleCell #PatientPartnership #ResearchThatHeals
Register today! The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Inc. (SCDAA) will be hosting “Research That Heals: Partnering with Patients to Transform SCD Care” from June 25-26, 2026.
🩸 January is #NationalBloodDonorMonth. I just booked my @RedCross blood donation appointment.
Blood donation is truly the lifeblood for so many. As someone with O+ blood, I hope my donation helps someone in need.
Please consider donating.

Standing before the Henrietta Lacks mural on a corner near @HopkinsMedicine today—reflecting on my time as a bench scientist in cancer cell biology at @MoffittNews and the enduring impact of HeLa cells across biomedical science, including sickle cell disease.
Her legacy reminds us: medical breakthroughs must never come at the cost of dignity.
The injustices of the past must power a more equitable future.

Over a decade ago, when I was at ASH helping launch the sickle cell initiative, I met three extraordinary patient organizations — @SCDAAorg @SCCConsortium & @SickCells. Since then, each of you have become my friends, trusted partners, and colleagues, and today’s recognition is
continue to fuel my purpose every day.
To Dr. Bailey, Regina and Ashley I want to celebrate you and the work of your respective teams. Thank you for your leadership. Thank you for your partnership. And thank you for letting me walk beside you in this work for more than 10 years.
I’m proud of all you’ve accomplished — and honored to keep pushing forward together.

On this next journey I’m inspired by these words from Pastor McGhee
Word from a few weeks ago
Galatians 6:4 (NLT) - “Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else.”
be in their business until our’s is ignored or left incomplete. When you focus on your own work you will not have time to wonder or worry about what others are doing. Distractions cause accidents. Assumptions lead to bitterness. Beloved, stop thinking that what they have
