Taking a Twitter breather for a stretch; see you all soon ✌🏼.

Really enjoying #VisionQuest so far. It’s creative and entertaining, and is hugely rewarding to long time MCU fans. Bettany is great, managing to add new layers to the titular, tortured character. But it’s the inimitable, always magnetic Spader who absolutely steals the show 💪🏼.

The S4 finale of #StrangeNewWorlds was a fun, if anticlimactic conclusion to what has unfortunately been a wildly uneven, overly gimmicky season. In its 60th year, I expected more from Trek. I can only hope that S5 of SNW can at least stick the landing next year.

Have just seen #AvengersEndgameEncore. The extra tags (four if you go to an ‘Infinity Vision’ screening 🤘🏼!) are fun, but what really struck me is not just how well the movie holds up, but how it still moved a packed cinema audience more than 7 years later. People laughed… (1/2)

…They cheered (the portals scene remains magnificent). And - to my astonishment - just like in 2019, Tony Stark’s death moved the grown man sat next to me to literal tears. That’s the power of cinema. That’s the power of fandom. Bring on #Doomsday 💪🏼. (2/2)

I knew this was coming. It’s 2018 all over again 😔. But - at least we were lucky enough to have #BornAgain at all, and I hope they smash it with the upcoming final season 💪🏼.

Immediate reaction: Great! “Brand New Day” was awesome. Subsequent reaction: We’re never getting “Shang-Chi 2”, are we?

Okay, #StrangeNewWorlds. I get that #StarTrek episodes often revolve around the absurd; just look at the premise of many instalments of TOS. And it must be said that SNW’s puppet episode does contain some genuinely funny moments. But - we’re half way into season 4 now, and …

… of the 5 episodes that have aired, each one has featured some kind of gimmick. There’s now only 11 episodes left of the entire damn show - and the producers knew this. Why are they wasting so much time on ‘zany’ premises when there’s so little of it left? #StrangeNewWorlds

If she still works in the field of astronomy/confectionary consumption, I know the perfect person to teach children in the UK about tomorrow’s #solareclipse.

I’ve really enjoyed all the Tom Holland Spidey flicks, and #SpiderManBrandNewDay is another strong entry, one that continues Marvel’s impressive run of the past 15 months. Pros: - The cast is excellent, as always. Sink is a great addition. - The Punisher works surprisingly well.

- There are some genuinely affecting moments. - It’s nice to see Spidey back to doing some more street-level crime fighting. Cons: - Not enough Ruffalo/Hulk. - The surprising lack of larger world building, coming right before #Doomsday. A solid 8/10 👍🏼. #SpiderManBrandNewDay

I must first admit that I’m not a die hard Nolan apologist - but I did really enjoy #TheOdyssey, a true visual spectacle, anchored by brilliant performances. Sometimes, it does feel like Nolan is reaching for deeper themes that simply aren’t there in the source material.

I also rubbed up against the deliberate choice to include some contemporary language, which I just found jarring. However, this is still the kind of storytelling that Hollywood needs more of, and I applaud Nolan for bringing this classic tale to life so well. #TheOdyssey

#Supergirl is a bit of a mixed bag. It’s enjoyable, visually interesting, and features a solid central turn from Alcock (as well as Mamoa, who’s clearly having a blast). But - the plot feels frustratingly repetitive, with low stakes, and surprisingly little world building.

Two films in, the DCU still hasn’t hooked me in, and from the film’s poor box office I see I’m not the only one. I admire what James Gunn is trying to do - but I somehow suspect his new cinematic universe may well end up grinding to a halt a lot sooner than he’d like. #Supergirl
