Whoops. Gal Luft, the GOP's new fake Hunter Biden "whistleblower," was just indicted by the Justice Department for arms trafficking, violating U.S. sanctions against Iran, making false statements to federal agents, and being an unregistered foreign agent for China. James Comer and Jim Jordan's sham investigations continue to backfire.

1/Judge Cannon set the date for this Friday's pretrial CIPA hearing on 6/26. Today on 7/10, 4 days before the hearing, Nauta's counsel asked for another date. Most judges would tell him to appear virtually & file a timely motion advising the court of any conflicts in the future.

”The famous Italian diver Enzo Maiorca dove into the sea of Syracuse and was talking to his daughter Rossana who was aboard the boat. Ready to go in, he felt something slightly hit his back. He turned and saw a dolphin. Then he realized that the dolphin did not want to play but to express something. The animal dove and Enzo followed. At a depth of about 12 meters, trapped in an abandoned net, there was another dolphin. Enzo quickly asked his daughter to grab the diving knives. Soon, the two of them managed to free the dolphin, which, at the end of the ordeal, emerged, issued an "almost human cry" (describes Enzo). (A dolphin can stay under water for up to 10 minutes, then it drowns.) The released dolphin was helped to the surface by Enzo, Rosana and the other dolphin. That’s when the surprise came: she was pregnant! The male circled them, and then stopped in front of Enzo, touched his cheek (like a kiss), in a gesture of gratitude and then they both swam off. Enzo Maiorca ended his speech by saying: “Until man learns to respect and speak to the animal world, he can never know his true role on Earth.”

No. More. Delays.
It’s been 27 days since Trump & Nauta were indicted. Nauta’s arraignment was twice delayed after he failed to retain local counsel. His arraignment is set for tomorrow in Miami. With t-minus 24 hours until the hearing, Nauta still has no counsel of record on the docket.

As they did in 2022, relentless Republican attacks on reproductive health care will energize voters — especially young voters — to mobilize and vote to defend their freedoms in 2024. Republicans will pay a price for their extremism! That's not a threat — it's a prediction. -NP

Since 1912, Ohioans have used ballot initiatives to amend the state constitution and exercise the freedom to make decisions that affect their lives. Voting NO in this August’s special election is how voters maintain this effective instrument of democracy. bit.ly/43j8tBT

On this 4th of July, 2023, I say this: We are the people the history books will write about, regarding the saving of our democracy. We are the ones. Let that sink in for a moment. When the citizens of the future, look back at the history of this country….they will talk about this period of time we are living in….right now. They will read about how a rogue President sold out the country. How that individual attempted to hijack the nation, for his own personal gain, and how close he came to succeeding. However, the story will conclude, with this: “Those who were committed to democracy, came together in a way that the masses hadn’t done since WWII. They organized. They kept their cool, and pushed their fears into the periphery…and forged ahead with tenacity. Their steel like resolve and determination, to be the ones to save democracy in 2024-from what would have almost certainly been the final chapter for freedom-was the turning point. One that allowed for the continuation….of what you’re still enjoying, now, fifty years later, in 2073.” I hope that while you read this, you feel something close to what I felt…while I was writing it. I do. We. Are. The. Ones.

You can't understand 1776 if you don't understand 1619. July 4, 1776 when the colonists declared independence, 1/5 of the population of the 13 colonies was enslaved. They would not gain freedom for a century. This, too, is the 4th of July. This, too, is the story of America.
