Survival and safety after neoadjuvant chemotherapy or upfront surgery for locally advanced colon cancer: meta-analysis ➡️ doi.org/10.1093/bjs/znae021 This systematic review and meta-analysis of seven studies involving 2120 patients with locally advanced colon cancer found that neoadjuvant chemotherapy is associated with a reduced hazard of recurrence and death, as well as improved 5-year overall survival and disease-free survival rates, compared with upfront surgery. No significant differences in perioperative complications or mortality were found, but neoadjuvant chemotherapy decreased the risk of incomplete resection. In conclusion, neoadjuvant chemotherapy appears to offer oncological benefits in the treatment of locally advanced colon cancer. Raise awareness for PMP/appendix cancers. Delayed or missed diagnoses are common but have consequences. Early detection enables better treatment outcomes. Spread awareness to educate about symptoms & challenges faced. Together we can advocate for early detection.💛🎗️

Huge congrats 🎉 to @JoanneE59669325 & colleagues, who will use this important funding from @bowelcanceruk to look at better predicting the probability of cancer spread in early-stage bowel cancer, which could lead to earlier diagnosis and improved treatment options in future. 🙏
We’re delighted to announce we’ve awarded grants worth over £93,000 to four new research projects for 2023. These new research projects will be looking into a range of different areas that have the potential to improve early diagnosis Learn more: bowelcanceruk.org.uk/news-an…
