Mitanni kingdom of Syria was an Out of India wave to the west! Mitannis left Sarasvati Sindhu Civilization Region after the Rgvedic Period (3300-1900 BCE). One of the most remarkable discoveries is a horse training manual found in the Hittite archives at Hattusa. Its author, Kikkuli, identifies himself as a horse trainer from the land of Mitanni. Written mainly in Hittite, the manual describes methods for training horses and includes numbers such as "aika, tera, panza, satta" and "nawa", meaning one, three, five, seven and nine. These words closely resemble the Sanskrit numerals "eka, tri, pañca, sapta" and "nava". In addition, this vocabulary has the characteristic signature of Late Rgvedic poetry. This confirms the migration progressed from Sarasvati Sindhu Region (Rgvedic Region) during or after the Late Rgvedic Period (2600-1900 BCE), rather than Mitannis coming into India from Syria before the Rgvedic Period. Further evidence comes from a treaty made in the 14th cent BCE between the Hittite king Šuppiluliuma I and the Mitanni ruler Šattiwaza. The treaty calls upon Mitra, Varuna, Indra and the Nasatyas as witnesses. These are the same deities mentioned in the Rgveda. Several Mitanni royal names, including Tušratta and Šattiwaza, also appear to have Indo- Aryan linguistic connections. Taken together, these findings suggest that people associated with Indo- Aryan languages and religious traditions played a role in the political and cultural life of the ancient Near East. The decline of the Sarasvati in 2200-1900 BCE and the corresponding decline of Mature Harappan Phase into Late Harappan Phase in 1900 BCE caused migration of population of Sarasvati to Ganga basin giving us Itihasas, all the while Mitanni rulers descended from people who migrated from the Sarasvati to westwards.
