This approach is why the NFL is eating the NBA's lunch. NFL preseason rates higher than NBA playoff games. They took over Christmas day at will.

The leagues goal is to make money, it's an entertainment product. If anyone feels like the league doesn't influence these things then you must live a pretty sheltered perfect life.
