On Saturday, my community raised $2,455 for @AlveusSanctuary ! 💚 If you know me, you know how much I love animals and how much the mission at Alveus means to me. I'm so grateful to everyone who donated, raided, chatted, and gamed with me - all with the goal of raising money for this amazing nonprofit organization! It was my first time using Twitch Charity and it was pretty convenient! Tips for Streamers (#56): Do you know these Twitch Rules? 👀 🎵 DMCA MUSIC Just because you pay for Spotify, Apple Music, etc. doesn’t mean you have permission to play that music on stream. If you don’t own the rights or have permission to broadcast it, you could receive a copyright claim. 🎁 FREE PRODUCTS Did a company send you a free product in exchange for you talking about or promoting it? That can count as Branded Content. Twitch requires you to use its "Branded Content" disclosure checkbox ☑️ and follow applicable advertising rules. 🏷️ STREAM TAGS Tags aren’t a free-for-all! They still have to follow Twitch’s Community Guidelines. Hateful conduct, harassment, sexual content, nudity, illegal drugs, and vulgarity are among the things prohibited in tags. Twitch has a LOT of rules, so when in doubt, check the Community Guidelines and TOS (Terms of Service)! 📖 Knowing the rules can save you from a headache later, or, even more important, from being banned from Twitch altogether... 😬

Tips for Streamers (#55): Create a business email 📧 Sponsors, game developers, companies, and even gaming orgs (if you're open to that) need a way to contact you about things like: 🎮 Free game keys 🎁 Free merch/products 🤝 Sponsorship opportunities 💼 Collaborations 📢 Events & promotions And YES, you might get some spam. 😬 That’s exactly why I recommend keeping it separate from your personal email. Your business email is for your content creation stuff ONLY... not your bills, appointments, family, etc. In case you're on the fence, I actually had @Razer reach out to me through mine, and they sent me a FREE Kraken Kitty V3 Pro headset! 😻🎧 Pretty siiick right? You never know who might find your content and want to work with you, so put your business email somewhere easy to find (like your Twitch/YouTube profile or a creator contact page). You never know what opportunities will come your way! (and you can always ignore the spam) 🙃

Tips for Streamers (#54): Should a small streamer have a Discord server? 🤔 My opinion... If you want one and you're able to monitor it regularly, then absolutely! ❤️ Discord can be a great way to build your community outside of Twitch... but there’s one VERY important thing: 🚨 Set up your moderation, security, & roles BEFORE inviting people to join. Make sure you have things like: 🔒 Verification/security settings 🛡️ AutoMod & spam protection 👮 Roles & permissions 🚫 Clear rules 🤖 Moderation bots And one thing I personally wish I had done from the beginning... 👇 Set up notification roles! Recently, I added Carl-bot @carl_discord to my Discord, which I've used to create Reaction Roles. (See photo) I HIGHLY recommend doing this ASAP. Giving people control over their notifications keeps your Discord from becoming a constant stream of @ everyone alerts. 💀 Set it up, lock it down, THEN invite your community!

Tips for Streamers (#53): Want a Stream Deck but don’t want to spend the money yet? 👀 Use your phone! 📱✨ Elgato has Stream Deck Mobile, which turns your phone into a virtual Stream Deck. The FREE version gives you 6 customizable buttons that you can use for things like: 🎙️ Mute/unmute 🎬 Start/stop recording 🎮 Switch OBS scenes 🎵 Control Spotify 💡 Control LED lights …and other cool stuff! You can even use folders and profiles to organize your controls. It’s a great way to try out a Stream Deck before buying the hardware (which is like $60-$250 depending on the size). Like I've said before, you don't need expensive gear to get started... Use what you already have! ❤️

Tips for Streamers (#52): Stream Tags!! 👀 Tags can help Twitch understand what your stream is about and help viewers find streams that match what they’re looking for. Keep them relevant to your content, but don’t be afraid to have a little fun with them... 😉 Examples... CHATTING 💬English 💬Chatty 💬Chill 💬Just Chatting GAMING 🎮Competitive 🎮First Playthrough 🎮Playing With Viewers 🎮No Spoilers FUN 🙃Chaotic 🙃Unhinged 🙃Professional Yapper 🙃Zero Braincells And then take a look at your analytics to see which tags are actually bringing people to your stream! 📊 (I've included some of mine in this photo!) Your tags should tell potential viewers what they’re getting into, so make them useful, relevant, and a little bit YOU. ❤️

Tips for Streamers (#51): Did you know you can give your "Regulars" extra permissions in chat? 👀 Not everyone can afford to subscribe every month, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t an important part of your community! Both StreamElements & Nightbot let you create a “Regular” user level that can give TRUSTED viewers more freedom in chat. Depending on your moderation settings, Regulars can potentially bypass things like: 🔗 Link restrictions 🔠 Excessive caps 💬 Repeated messages 📢 Spam filters How to set it up: 🟣 StreamElements: Dashboard → Chatbot → Settings → Users → "Add new bot user" → Type username + Regular (300) 🤖 Nightbot: Nightbot → Dashboard → Users → "New Regular" Then check your moderation settings and decide which user levels can bypass each restriction. Personally, I have most things set to "Subscriber", but links and banned phrases I have set to "Regular". ☑️ Assigning "Regulars" is a great way to recognize people who consistently show up and contribute to your community... without requiring a subscription. Use Regular status wisely... and only give it to people you trust! ❤️

Tips for Streamers (#50): Give your chat some fun commands to play with! Not every command needs to be useful. Sometimes chat just wants to type !fart and see what happens. 🤭💨 Some that I use (or have heard of): 💨 !fart 👉 Random volume of fart (in decibels) 🧠 !funfact 👉 Random fun fact (lmk in the comments if you want the command response I use) 🎰 !gamble 👉 Gamble channel points 🍑 !thicc 👉 Random thiccness percentage 😂 ⚔️ !duel @ user 👉 Random winner selected (StreamElements default command btw) 👋 !slap 👉 Slap a random chatter 🤗 !hug @ user 👉 Send someone a virtual hug (or leave off the @ and make it select a random chatter) 🎱 !8ball 👉 Random yes/no/maybe answer 👑 !rank 👉 Randomly rank someone at something 🎲 !roll 👉 Random number Both Nightbot and StreamElements can do A LOT with random numbers and randomized responses. There are some other commands I use that are a little more NSFW, so I won't share those here. 🤫 Get creative! Tips for Streamers (#49 part 2): You got the collab! 🎉 Now respect each other’s content. If you need to talk to your chat, mute in Discord. Don’t hog the conversation. Hype up the other streamer! Give them space to shine. ✨ BUT… protect your own content too. If the other streamer is constantly dominating the conversation, it’s okay to step in and get your moment back. This is YOUR stream too. 😤 And yes, it’s totally okay to deafen in Discord for a bit if you feel overstimulated AND/OR to thank your own community for their support. ❤️ A good collab should make everyone look good—not just the loudest person in the call. 🙃

Tips for streamers (#49 part 1): Want to collaborate with another streamer? 🎮 ASK. Don’t assume. And understand that NO is a perfectly acceptable answer. ❤️ Not everyone wants to collaborate... and honestly, if they aren’t close with you or don’t see a benefit to collaborating, they may not feel it’s worth their time. AND THAT'S OKAY! Don’t take it personally. Don’t pressure them. Do NOT keep asking. 😅 Find people who want to create something together and make it a win for everyone. 🤝 Collabs should be mutually beneficial—not an obligation.

Tips for streamers (#48): Raid etiquette: RECEIVING a raid 👋 You got a raid! AWESOME! 🎉 Now what? First of all, don’t be fake. Say hello, thank the streamer, tell the raiders who you are and what kind of games you play/content you make. And when you can, say hello to as many of the raiders as possible, BY NAME! ❤️ Remember: their streamer just ended. Those viewers have a choice... stick around with YOU or go find another stream they already follow. So ask yourself: “WHY should they stay?” Be welcoming. Be yourself. And give them a reason to want to hang out with you. 😊 ALSO 📢📢 DO NOT beat yourself up if many of the raiders leave right away. This is SO normal for many reasons... 1. They may have been watching their streamer for HOURS and are exhausted. 2. They may not play/enjoy the game you are playing (and that's FINE) 3. You may have pre-roll ads that they just genuinely do not want to sit through. (Consider turning these off btw) 💡 4. Their power went out 😂

Tips for Streamers (#47): Want to encourage your chat to make more clips? 🎬 Try a Clip Contest! In my stream, I do a Clip of the Month and then, at the end of the year, we vote on Clip of the Year! 🏆 I announce the monthly winner in Discord AND on stream, then the first week of January, everyone gets to vote for their favorite "Clip of the Year" in a Discord poll. (See image attached) I use @EasyPoll in Discord for the voting! 👀 If you can come up with prizes every month, awesome! But in my community, I only do a prize for Clip of the Year. (Clip of the Month winners get bragging rights though... ) 🙃 It's a fun way to get your community involved, encourage clipping, AND create some awesome memories along the way. 🫶

Tips for Streamers (#46): Review your Go-Live Notification analytics on Twitch 👀 Go to: Creator Dashboard → Analytics → Viewers → Discovery → Go-Live Notification → View All Twitch shows you how your Go-Live notifications are performing, so take a look at what’s working and what isn’t! 📊 Did a funny notification get more clicks? 🤔 Did a certain type of wording perform better? 🤔 Use your own data to figure out what gets people interested in joining your stream! 💜

Tips for Streamers (#45): Maybe don’t talk TOO much about being broke on stream. 💸 Occasionally sharing what’s going on in your life? Totally fine! But if your stream constantly becomes: “I’m so broke.” “I don’t know how I’m going to pay for ___.” “I really wish I could afford ___.” …it can start to feel like you’re baiting viewers for subs/donos. 😬 Your stream, your choice! But personally, if every stream turns into a conversation about how hard life is because you’re broke, I’ll probably leave. Your viewers are there for YOU. ❤️ Let people support you because they want to—not because they feel pressured to improve your financial situation.

Tips for streamers & chatters (#43): Don't fish for a sub! 🎣 I 100% agree with this post! There is NOTHING wrong with not being able to afford a sub. We’ve all been there! But repeatedly mentioning that you don’t have one can unintentionally put pressure on the streamer or other viewers to gift you one. Enjoy the community, use the free emotes, and sub when/if you can. No guilt, no pressure. 😊 And streamers, please don't put pressure on community members that are not subbed... you never know what they're going through ❤️
