Just messing around & tried to make it “realistic”
Bunch of trades, protected rule 5 guys, and kept the big prospects
Not gonna pretend to know all available players/what they might cost in trades, but this regime likes to trade & they might need to more if Lerners don’t spend

The Nationals have announced the following transactions:
-PJ Poulin cleared outright waivers and he has been assigned outright to Triple-A Rochester. Poulin is eligible for Minor League free agency, so he will become a free agent
-Ken Waldichuk cleared outright waivers and he has been assigned outright to Triple-A Rochester
-Richard Lovelady cleared outright waivers and he has been assigned outright to Triple-A Rochester. Lovelady had the option to declare free agency and he has done so
-Paxton Schultz has been claimed off outright waivers by the Cincinnati Reds
-Mitchell Parker has been claimed off outright waivers by the Atlanta Braves
-Drew Millas and Matt Waldron have been reinstated from the 60-day IL
-Jose Tena has been designated for assignment
The 40-Man Roster remains at 40.
Legit the dream. Would be such a perfect fit with the Nats
Obviously will cost more than they’ve been in the past 5 years combined, but the new CBA will likely require more spending of some sort
The Brewers winning the World Series reminds me of one of the most fun Nats games of the season, and one of the first games that signaled this season was going to be a huge step forward
First Wizards game I’ve watched since the Russ year and that shit was electric! Definitely going to be tuning in more

Cade Cavalli signed a contract extension, tossed 5 scoreless innings and reached 200 strikeouts. CJ Abrams joined the 30-30 Club. And Josiah Gray pitched in an MLB game for the first time in 897 days, closing out a 9-1 win.
That's a pretty good day for the Washington Nationals.

Also in here: Cade Cavalli told us in St. Louis that he picked Ryan Zimmerman’s brain before signing the extension.
“Let’s do the longest deal possible, because I want to be here truly forever.”
Skip Johnson saved the goal sheet from Cade Cavalli’s freshman year at OU. He always liked how big the word “TEAM” was written.
Years later, Cavalli is a face of one, with an extension to boot. On the choices that got him here and the origin of an ethos: nytimes.com/athletic/7609401…
Super reasonable deal too! Big win for the Nats

Right-hander Cade Cavalli and the Washington Nationals are close on a contract extension, sources say. A deal is not done, but there is optimism about a new contract to keep the 28-year-old in Washington going forward.
