To add to the important points here, discussions around anxiety as an emotion/emotional state, and stress, both normal and abnormal levels and learning to understand and cope with these is vital from a very young age. We don’t talk about anxiety as an emotional spectrum enough.

Reflecting on my broad but niche area of expertise. An 18th c.-1945 historian interested in emotions, esp. anxiety, intersected with health/well-being, political, social, gender and family history, and personal/life writing. Anyone else got an interesting mix? #twitterstorians

There is real ignorance about the HE sector - a lot of people are bearing the brunt of the cost of living crisis, living hand to mouth. Even many of those able to afford things now don’t have the security to do so in x months, waiting to see if they get more work. 1/

This came back on my timeline this evening. It was a lovely discussion on my journal article on female distance education through letters in the 18thc. and learning distance rhetoric, something we learn all the time today with and through different technologies #twitterstorians
Fascinating study by @RachelBynoth on 18thC letters between Hitty Canning and her teenage daughter Bess. Hitty taught Bess core subjects and life skills and maintained a strong emotional connection at a distance, despite Bess’s occasional rebellions/strops historyfirst.com/mum-and-dau…

Does anyone know of publications which discuss growing up in the 18th century in any respect? Bonus points if they use letters as sources and are situated in an English context. #twitterstorians @BSECS @livesofletters @RoyalHistSoc @long18thsem
