Do they want the experience of mothers or the opinions of those who “work with” mothers?
Researchers and policy makers must be made to realize that listening to people talk about us is not the same as listening to us.
Enough! If you really want to be an ally, take a step back.
The University of Toronto is looking for mothers with disabilities in Ontario and/or service providers working with mothers with disabilities for a research opportunity. You will be compensated for your time. Please reach out to [email protected] for more information!

“ The Trump administration on March 21 terminated part of a $200 million contract that funds attorneys …for unaccompanied children…While that action is being challenged in court, immigrant advocates say the impact is already being felt, – leaving some children on their own.
So I understand that there is some sort of parliamentary cmte on accessibility today. Looking at the teams info for companies making money via this legislation I see very few actual disabled people listed.
Is this just another money grab at the expense of people with disability?
I think in these situations people forget that “the media” are also their neighbours and are dealing with the same issues.
Have a little grace, people.

It’s literally been the top story for days on every national news program with reporters on the ground showing how bad it is. I was on the ground for Katrina and my colleagues are in Western NC right now (some live there and are suffering, too)

Can't make old buildings accessible for "historical preservation".
Won't build accessible homes because "aesthetics".
Can't live in apartment blocks without risking burning to death.
Where the fuck do you want us to live? Or is the living part the problem?
So… are we letting the caregiver group take top billing on this court case?
Any actual PWD will only be included in the story to add pathos, remember, if you let what happened today continue.
PWD must be centre stage. Non-PWD need to step back.

I don’t know how you can be PM w/o it most certainly, unless you expect your staff to break confidentiality.
But even as opposition-you’d think you’d want every tool at your disposal to work toward “peace, order and good government”.
If you don’t know intl/dom security info…
Anyone have the link for the disabled person’s version of the CDB consultation?
Not the one that will be flooded by agencies/caregivers, who deserve their own for their specific concerns.
Oh, there isn’t a split? Actual PWD are just baggage again?
Well, it’s due on the 23rd.
Drivers, ALWAYS open slowly and look back as you do.
There is often not enough room for the cyclist to preemptively give you berth. And outside of going slowly there is no way for you to give notice to the cyclist.
We are all part of this, and need to keep each other safe.
#VPDNews: Vancouver Police are investigating after a cyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a pedestrian that occurred on September 1, and are asking anyone with information to call #VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012. bit.ly/4cZ0Pl9
ake sure you understand the difference between the original law and the amendments. The original law was based on the standard argument, of terminal disease like cancer. Then it was expanded to include ALS etc. But now it is at the point of being available for almost anything.

I’m not sure what the big deal is? We have enough compassion to put our pets down when they’re suffering and no chance of a recovery. Why not make that decision for ourselves.
It's scary that not a single recommendation under "who to follow" on disability matters is a consumer-controlled (board and staff made up of at least 50+1% disabled people), w. membership-driven policy with open voting.
Now, I know of a sort of one that has left X, but all?
So, given that there are provisions to issue additional EI benefits for seasonal workers, and adjustments to the number of qualifying weeks based on regional unemployment numbers, why is there not an adjustment for workers with disabilities, who likely can’t take pick-up jobs?
Is it time for the disability community to come up with an acronym that doesn’t present us as a big blob?
We may have an idea, but we do not necessarily know each other’s real issues any better than people who are not at all of the community.
We can damage each other as we are.
I’m concerned at the lack of people w disabilities in the accessibility field. I’ve talked to several who were really discouraged by architecture profs, for ex. Looking at a list of agencies getting these contracts it seems as if the economic payoff of this legn leaves PWD out.
This is brilliant, to press for Novavax to be approved in Canada.
For many it is better tolerated, for some it is the only safe option, for some, its coverage of more variants is appealing.
Just open the page, read through the material, and when you are ready, send.
Friends, please take a moment to do this, and share this.
Those who can’t (or do not) want to receive an mRNA vax now have no alternative. stillcoviding.ca/en/take-act…
It's been an employer's mkt forever, as long as market-disrupting programs such as this existed.
Offer proper wages and benefits, create jobs people can build a life on, and see who comes on board.
Or let daddy government open their pockets again. That's the freemarketer's way.
We need a law against changing prices based on who is looking at items on a shelf (or online shopping baskets).
They can do what they want with unnecessary trinkets, but not food.
I’m just never going in a @kroger again. This is going in the extended family group text too. @Microsoft has nerve as well.
It’s cheaper to have reasonably priced food people can afford than to do all this.
