Putin is desperate because he is losing the war he started in 🇺🇦 Ukraine.
Putin wants the world to believe he can sell diesel to the 🇺🇸 US, diesel he does not have; he wants people to think the small quantities that could be supplied would influence US prices, but they won't because prices are determined globally and not regionally.
Trump wants to fool US voters into thinking he can lower prices, but he cannot: Russia is unable to supply the large quantities required, and until the conflict with Iran and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz are resolved, there will be no sustained drop in prices.
Few understand that the prices of oil, gas, and diesel are determined not by current supply and demand, but by the risks anticipated for supply and demand and that is a crucial distinction.
Meanwhile, Ukraine is winning a key battle in the Donbas, destroying any prospect 🇷🇺 Russia might thought to have of conquering the region in 2026 or 2027; as Russia weakens and Ukraine grows stronger, this represents a strategic defeat for him.
While the media is full of headlines about diesel, Trump, and Putin, Ukraine is winning the war.
