JA’KOBI GILLESPIE HAS A REAL ROTATION CASE. The Spurs don't need every guard to play like a lead ball-handler. They need different guards who can solve different problems. Gillespie's preseason scoring shows he can give the bench some offensive punch, but the bigger question is how that scoring fits around Fox, Castle and Harper. When those three are handling the ball, Gillespie's value comes from being able to play without dominating possessions. If defenders go under screens or help off him, he has to make them pay. If they close out hard, he needs to attack the space and make the next read instead of forcing a shot. That's how a reserve guard becomes useful in a deep roster: he gives the offense another answer without taking the ball away from the main creators. But the shooting has to hold, and the decision making matters just as much. A guard who can score in a short preseason run still has to prove he can organise the second unit, protect the ball and survive defensively when teams start targeting him. I see a possible role as a scoring minded reserve guard who can handle secondary playmaking duties He doesn't need to beat Fox, Castle or Harper for their jobs. He needs to give Mitch Johnson another lineup option when the rotation changes. That's the real opportunity for Gillespie: make his minutes fit the team, not just fill the stat sheet. #GoSpursGo #PorVida
