AlBaraka Forum for Islamic Economy, represented by Mr. Ahmed Elbohy, Director of the Secretary-General’s Office, participated in a specialized discussion session as part of the OIC Economic Outlook Reports series, organized by DinarStandard, addressing the impact of the crisis in the Middle East on Islamic economy sectors. This session focused on the Islamic finance sector, including Islamic banking, sukuk, investment funds, and takaful. The DinarStandard team presented the key findings of the report and the interactive dashboard, noting that the crisis was not merely a temporary geopolitical shock, but rather exposed a number of structural vulnerabilities within the industry. Mr. Ahmed Elbohy highlighted the findings of AlBaraka’s strategic report issued in June, emphasizing that the crisis clearly demonstrated that risk transfer remains one of the weakest links in the Islamic finance ecosystem, particularly in the takaful and retakaful sectors. He explained that sukuk and Islamic financial markets showed a degree of resilience, while the most significant constraint was the rise in insurance premiums and the risks posed by the crisis to trade flows and maritime corridors. He further stressed that the reliance of takaful institutions on conventional reinsurance markets represents a strategic and sovereign vulnerability. He called for transforming the crisis into a practical opportunity to establish an Islamic retakaful pool against crisis-related risks, starting with cooperation between GCC markets and Malaysia, with the participation of both the public and private sectors. Such an initiative would strengthen the resilience of the Islamic economy and reconnect the industry with its original maqasid of risk sharing.

The global Islamic economy from fashion to food Muslim consumer spending across major Islamic economy sectors reached around $2.43 trillion in 2023 and is projected to approach $3.36 trillion by 2028. Halal food remains by far the largest segment at roughly $1.43 trillion, but sectors such as modest fashion, Islamic finance, cosmetics, pharma, travel, and media are also expanding steadily. Islamic finance alone is approaching $5 trillion in assets. Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, UAE, and Bahrain currently rank among the leading ecosystems supporting Islamic economy activity. The scale is no longer niche , it is becoming a major parallel consumer and financial ecosystem Source: @DinarStandard by Najmul Haque Kawsar

Halal consumers aren't just asking "Is it Halal?" anymore. They're asking: Is it ethical? Is it transparent? Is it humane? At ISA, we're committed to Halal certification that reflects the full depth of Islamic values — not just the minimum. Halal means more. Navigating global Halal compliance is becoming increasingly complex. Different regions have their own specific requirements and interpretations of Halal standards. While the integrity of Halal remains, these varying enforcement levels create confusion for producers in a global supply chain. To solve this, the industry needs better harmonization and mutual recognition schemes so producers can clearly understand and meet these diverse needs. Without a settled global standard, gaps in implementation quality will continue to exist. How can we better standardize Halal requirements globally? Let us know your thoughts in the comments! 🌍✨ @AkhirahStudios @DinarStandard @HalalHmca11920 #halal #halalfood #islamicknowledge #halaldiet #lifestyle #halalrestaurant #zabihah #dawah #health #nutrition #halalcertification #halalindustry #Ramadan #fasting #islamicknowledge

What are digital platforms? An online digital platform is a digital matchmaker; it provides a place online for two or more distinct but interdependent groups to connect, thereby creating a demand side and a supply side.
