Sadly we bid farewell to a king. Kavanthisa was the biggest tusker in Sri Lanka. Complications due to a gunshot injury. As a nation we failed him, he should have been treated as a national treasure, instead he died in a paddy field. – at Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Secures Major Credit Boost as Fitch Raises Rating to B- with Stable Outlook
📈 Fitch Ratings has raised Sri Lanka’s long-term foreign-currency issuer default rating from CCC+ to B-
🛡️ The agency assigned a stable outlook, signalling confidence that the country’s credit position should hold steady in the near term
💪 The move reflects continued progress in economic stabilisation, stronger external buffers and reduced default risks following earlier debt restructuring
🌍 Improved macroeconomic conditions and successful creditor negotiations have helped restore investor confidence in the island nation’s finances
🔄 This upgrade marks a notable step forward from the post-crisis ratings, highlighting resilience in public finances and policy implementation

🚨 EASTER ATTACKS: MILITARY INTELLIGENCE UNDER THE SPOTLIGHT
Sri Lankan investigators have told court that information uncovered during the Easter Sunday attacks probe suggests members of Military Intelligence had prior information about Zahran Hashim and the impending attacks but deliberately withheld vital intelligence.
Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris alleged that an organised group within Military Intelligence sought to protect Zahran and, through him, shield those ultimately responsible for the attacks.
The claims were made before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court and remain allegations under investigation, not findings of guilt by a court.

🇳🇵 HERO PRINCIPAL: A school principal in Nepal is being hailed for saving 1,643 children from the deadly flash floods.
After receiving a warning that floodwaters were rapidly approaching, Tribhuvan Trishuli Secondary School principal Rajendra Dawadi immediately ordered an evacuation, sending students uphill to safety.
Minutes later, raging floodwaters swept through the area and destroyed the school buildings.
Dawadi played down the praise: “What else could I do?”
