🇪🇺 President Mattarella calls for a European common defence and faster EU decision-making.
As enlargement approaches, Europe also needs Treaty reform, an end to national vetoes and stronger democratic institutions.
Thank you, President Mattarella, for championing a stronger EU

Race week in Cascais. The training is banked.🏊♀️🚴♀️🏃♀️
What's left is the part that happens on the course: racing the pace you trained for, and fueling well enough to hold it.
Plenty of good races come apart on the bike, and it's rarely the training.

Europe’s aversion to regulation is now rivalled only by that of Silicon Valley’s tech billionaires.
No coincidence. The latter stand to be among the biggest beneficiaries of the EU’s deregulation wave.
Europe calls it competitiveness. Big Tech calls it a win.

Software is not being commoditized. It is being democratized.
I believe this is going to be the primary impact of generative AI on business #software: making capabilities that were once available only to a few accessible and affordable to everyone.
At @TalentLMS, we have been championing this democratization from the very beginning. Powerful learning software, easy to use and affordable for businesses of all sizes. Now, with generative AI, we are taking this to a whole new level.
The era of unjustifiably expensive business software is already over. If you are still paying tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars for your LMS, you are probably living in 2021. In 2026, for many businesses, there is no reason an excellent LMS should cost more than $10,000 a year or so.
I share a few thoughts on this in the video below.Connect with us and have a look at #TalentLMS. Let’s discuss how we can help your people learn and your business improve. And, of course, feel free to give it a try on talentlms.com

Why do great organizations eventually fall apart?
I call it financial gravity, an invisible force that slowly warps organizations and pulls them away from their original purpose.
Just as engineers design bridges to withstand gravity, founders and leaders need to build organizations that can resist the pressures that erode their values.
Daniel Kivatinos, Harshith Vaddiparthy, and I discuss why understanding financial gravity is only the beginning. The real challenge is designing companies strong enough to withstand it.

This State of the Union produced a familiar feeling: déjà vu, well-intentioned and naïve, as only we Europeans can be.
It offered incremental progress where the moment demands a quantum leap.

Why is it so hard for companies to communicate a higher purpose?
Whether you want to tackle climate change, build a higher-quality product, or simply make someone’s life easier, you’re choosing to create value beyond extracting as much as possible.
That puts you at odds with many of the incentives people encounter in modern business.
Andrea Pacini and I discuss on Ideas on Stage why communicating purpose requires understanding the forces pushing organizations in the opposite direction.

Start with Premium Before Freemium.
The thinking goes that when launching a new product, it’s often a good idea to lower friction by giving away your product for free so you can
1️⃣ Learn from users
2️⃣ Get them to try before they buy
3️⃣ Set pricing based on what users would be willing to pay
On the surface, Freemium seems like the best of both worlds: Get users to try your service without worrying about the price, then upsell them into the right premium plan later.
But the reality is quite different.

What happens when a short-term win undermines what made your company successful?
Groupon built its business around one great local deal sent by email each day. Then the company tested sending more. Revenue went up, so they kept doing it.
But what looked like success in the short term came at the expense of customer trust, and eventually customers churned.
Vlada Bortnik and I discuss on Heartful Wonders why leaders need to recognize when optimizing a metric starts destroying the value that created the business in the first place.

What responsibility does an author have to the reader?
When I first started speaking, I told myself that if I could help even one entrepreneur avoid the painful mistakes I’d made, it would be worth it.
I think writing requires the same commitment. You have to take responsibility for your relationship with the reader, listen to their feedback, and make every decision with the impact you want to have in mind.
Alex Strathdee and I discuss on Before the Bestseller what it means to truly write for the reader.
