“Ahoy there, me hearties!” Year 2 have been exploring pirates. The children researched famous ships and learned about sea adventures. Using creativity and teamwork, they designed and made their own pirate ships, considering features like sails, flags and cannons.

Maple class had a brilliant first day back after Easter, when pirate Captain Snappy Beard sent us on a playground treasure hunt. Using compasses and a map we located the X. We'll write our own English instructions this term. #OutdoorLearning #Pirates

So proud of Y5 who showed real resilience, grit, and determination as they used hacksaws, bench hooks and timber for the first time today. They've loved creating prototype beds for a soldier. Not an easy task—but they nailed it! 💪🪵

Maple class engaged in outdoor learning for our winter season's day by taking a sensory walk to explore what we could hear, see, and feel. We also examined plants and trees to understand their winter changes. It's certainly very cold! #Winter #SeasonsDay #Dimensions

Year 2 challenged themselves in Art by drawing inspiration from Christy Brown, who painted with his foot due to cerebral palsy. Despite difficulties, he persisted. We sketched his work and painted using our non-dominant hand, which was challenging but fun! #Art #DimensionsArt

Year 2 had a great inspiration day as part of our new theme 'Land ahoy'. They designed an eye patch, found pirate names and created a pirate hat. They investigated ships and boats before working as a team to design and create their own boat to launch. Lots of smiles and cheers!

An extremely productive afternoon during which Pathfinders investigated the Arctic climate and the impact this has on the environment. I wonder if your little Pathfinder can explain the meaning of the ‘polar night’ and the ‘midnight sun’? 🩵❄️⛄️

Year 2 had a great time this week beginning their learning about Elizabeth Blackwell. They especially enjoyed their role play activity exploring the role of female doctors during the 1800's and the protests that may have happened related to this. 🩺🩻👩‍⚕️

This afternoon, Pathfinders launched into their brand-new topic: Come Fly With Me – The Arctic Circle! We began with a chilly ice-cube challenge-how could we stop our ice cube from melting? We eventually discovered that the colder the ice cube, the slower it melted! 🧊
