Myriam was a 7-year-old French Jewish girl. She witnessed a terrorist break into her school and kill two of her classmates.
She tried to run but tripped while grabbing her schoolbag, causing her ballet slippers to fall out. She stopped to pick them up. He chased her and grabbed her by the hair, shooting her in the head at point-blank range.
The man was Mohamed Merah, and a rap song honoring him and other Muslim terrorists has become the unofficial anthem of the ‘student protests’ in France.
Mass immigration has been a catastrophe for Europe. There is no issue more urgent before the continent than to correct this mistake.

The good news is if you get your iPhone Duo in January you're already 25% of the way to your iPhone Duo 2. Ugh.

This quote from Steve Jobs lives rent free in my head...
"People who are genuinely great at something don't compete. They don't care about being compared to others because they're so deep in their own lane that comparison would be a waste of time. They just do their thing."

“Omg the trillion dollar computer brute forced some math equations!!!! It must be alive!!!!!”
Fully agree with this, it makes zero sense for member states to want to build their own AI.
Huge day for European AI, with @MistralAI and @bfl_ai
both putting out strong results 🇫🇷🇩🇪🇪🇺!
I hope Brussels (and member states) now finally drop their plans for a government frontier lab. It always seemed very naive (how would a gov initiative ever move as fast as Anthropic or OpenAI?) and it would compete with Europe's own companies while it should instead help them succeed.
Much better to spend that energy clearing the way for them, starting with making compute far easier to build here. And on building real state capacity: setting up AISIs and getting society ready for the wild few years ahead.
"Not only am I uninterested in the company’s home device, I can, for the first time, envision a future where I don’t buy Apple by default. Indeed, this already happened..."
Anyone into the age of agents will eventually realize Apple is a bad fit.

I love OpenAI, but as a European, DevDay 2026 left me disappointed. Great announcements, but no Dots in Europe and silence about it. Cutting subscription usage from 20x to 10x leaves a sour taste, too. Hard to share the hype when you feel left out.
"Slop" has become a comfort blanket for a cohort of programmers stuck somewhere between anger and bargaining on their way to acceptance. There might be some kicking and screaming, maybe a little crying, but eventually you have to let the blanket go and update your priors.
