18Z GFS MAINTAINS A MAJOR STORM ACROSS THE NORTHEAST LATER THIS WEEK....TRENDS TO BE MONITORED CLOSELY! *PLEASE READ/REPOST* As I write that headline above; it's important to note that I do like this pattern but unsure the timing and intensity of the jet-phasing and coastal low development. This is more educational than an actual forecast. Producing a blizzard from DC to Portland ME is an EVERTHING MUST GO RIGHT process which keeps the odds low statistically. On the ensembles map below I've noted a few MUST have's to keep this surface solution a viable forecast going into the weekend for the northeast. #Texas will first see this storm and we will have some good sampling by Wednesday across that region. Please note the trends and signals have been there for a while AND we are 126 hours out from this forecast. This is not a 300+ hour snowstorm.. The models and ensembles suggest something will be along the midatlantic/ New England coast by the weekend.
