Welcome to the beginning of the post-Trump era. President Trump has another 2 years in office but his party—which he has browbeaten and reshaped —has been repudiated in areas that used to be essential to his base. The President failed on what mattered most to most Americans, regardless of Party.

Please remember all the anti-democratic dogs that did not bark today. ICE did not intimidate or arrest voters at polling stations. Trump's attempt to disenfranchise voters in California failed miserably. Trump's planned shenanigans in Alaska no longer matter. Dems already won the Senate. And we dont have to wait anxiously to see what the House clerk will do on January 3rd regarding the seating of newly elected members. This blowout makes that anti-democratic tactic completely untenable now. Democrats won big tonight. But so too did democracy. Those who predicted democracy's death in America were mistaken.

🗳️🇺🇸 @ElonMusk spent more than $160 million on a Senate race in Texas, + whatever abusing his megaphone on @X is worth, but found that in a republic of the people, in the great state of Texas, voters still collectively have more power than a trillionaire. on.wsj.com/3X4kzS0

Democrats flipped both the House and Senate in the 2026 midterm elections & will gain control of both houses of Congress in January, in a historic 🌊 election that will send a new generation of lawmakers to Washington to check & balance a corrupt, imperial presidency.

In Texas, @JamesTalarico was elected to the U.S. Senate with a huge margin of victory. nytimes.com/interactive/2026… Texans sized up the candidates & made up their own minds, despite the hundreds of millions of dollars spent by the world’s richest man. Money can’t buy everything?

In Texas, @GovAbbottPress just conceded to @GinaHinojosaTX, in one of the most important democratic acts of his 12 years in office: honoring the will of the people, instead of lies & crying fraud. nytimes.com/interactive/2026… She will be the Lone Star State’s first Hispanic governor.

Brazil. Serbia. Israel (perhaps). America. The self correcting resilience of democracy. It takes time, true. But testimony that ordinary voters defend democracy (no 2 issue in the US exit poll). And protected by the courts, elections matter. A reality check for authoritarian leaders.

1/ CDC scientists wrote an urgent alert to warn doctors about measles in pregnancy.  New reporting shows the Trump administration blocked it. In Pennsylvania alone, 77 pregnant women have had measles this year and at least six newborns had it at birth.

This is an election-day reminder that election denial is a form of corruption and specifically an act of fraud. It means that individuals loyal to the leader have agreed to tell a lie to the American people about who won an election. They propagate that lie to their constituents, congregations, consumers, and their children until it becomes not just a party line but a credo.

The Fox News Decision Desk can project that Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms will become the next Governor of Georgia, defeating Republican businessman Rick Jackson. The former Atlanta mayor will be the first Black woman governor in U.S. history and the first Democrat elected governor in Georgia in decades. She succeeds Governor Brian Kemp.
