Mass resignations are just another symptom of BC's failing public healthcare system. - This month, five neurologists are resigning their positions with Interior Health - Last October, all seven obstetricians and gynecologists at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops resigned - That same month, four psychiatrists resigned from Vernon Jubilee Hospital - Seven pediatricians also resigned from Kelowna General Hospital between 2023 and 2025 An independent review published earlier this year described an atmosphere of "reduced trust" and "deteriorating working relations" between physicians and health authority leadership. Too bad for the doctors: our system makes it so that the local health authority is the only buyer of hospital doctors' labour. A doctor who rejects its terms can't work for a competing hospital; their only option is to quit. How do we fix this? There is a middle ground between our failing system and the US's crazy system. It's time for us to level up for everyone's benefit and look to more publicly funded, privately delivered care. In fact, that's how many of our peers do it: Australia, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. Everyone will benefit from the more efficient allocation of resources and improved user experience that come with competition and incentive alignment. We're getting exactly what the system is built for. It's not going to magicaly improve. We need to change the system. End the government monopoly on healthcare. cbc.ca/news/canada/british-c…

I’ve been sounding the alarm about the Chinese Communist Party and its efforts to interfere in our democracy and undermine Canada’s interests for years. I’ve never cared whether the politicians involved were Conservatives, Liberals or New Democrats. The CCP is an authoritarian regime that does not share our democratic values. Its efforts to cultivate influence in Canada must be confronted, not accommodated, excused or overlooked because of partisan loyalties. This reporting raises serious questions that deserve clear answers. Standing up to the CCP isn’t about being left-wing or right-wing. It’s about standing up for Canada. And when it comes to defending our country, there should be no blue team, red team or orange team. There should only be Team Canada.

New 30 km/h area speed limit signs will be posted at neighbourhood entry and exit points. Once you enter a signed area, the 30 km/h speed limit applies throughout the local road network until you leave that area. Slower speeds help reduce the risk of serious collisions and make neighbourhood streets safer. Learn more about the change: toronto.ca/LocalSpeed

Replying to @Polymarket
This is a textbook example of how immigration statistics get stripped of context to manufacture a misleading political narrative. Polymarket claims legal immigration from Canada to the US has “skyrocketed 142% since Trump returned to office.” What it conveniently leaves out is that the figure comes from a single month, February 2026, following sweeping US immigration restrictions affecting applicants from 152 countries. The statistic comes from a New York Times analysis published October 18. Here's what the underlying data actually shows. First, the 142% figure is NOT evidence of a sustained increase since Trump returned to office. It compares immigrant visas issued to Canadian nationals in February 2026 against the monthly average during 2023–2024. That's one month against a historical baseline, not a continuous increase throughout Trump's presidency. During his first year back, overall immigrant visa issuance declined by approximately 10%. The much sharper collapse came after additional restrictions were introduced. Second, the actual story is a historic US crackdown on legal immigration. In January 2026, the administration expanded immigration restrictions, effectively blocking immigrant visas for applicants from 91 countries and reducing issuance for another 61. Look at the monthly figures: February 2025: 51,058 immigrant visas October 2025: 52,400 November 2025: 42,720 December 2025: 46,478 January 2026: 34,599 February 2026: 26,483 That's a 49.5% collapse between October 2025 and February 2026, representing approximately 25,917 fewer immigrant visas issued per month. Yet Polymarket extracts the Canadian percentage from this historic contraction and presents it as though Canadians are suddenly abandoning their country. Third, Canada's increase occurred while immigrant visa issuance was collapsing across much of the world. The New York Times analysis reported the following regional changes relative to pre-Trump monthly averages: Central Asia: −99% Africa: −89% Eastern Europe: −84% Middle East: −81% Australia and Oceania: −73% South Asia: −63% South America: −60% Caribbean: −53% East Asia: −33% Central America: −30% Western Europe: −16% Meanwhile, Canada increased 142% and Mexico increased 17%. Canada and Mexico consequently accounted for approximately 30% of all immigrant visas issued in February 2026, or roughly 7,945 visas combined. Their growing share partly reflects the collapse in issuance elsewhere. Canada's reported 142% increase, however, represents an increase in actual visas issued relative to its earlier baseline, not merely a statistical consequence of other countries receiving fewer visas. Fourth, 142% of what, exactly? Polymarket provides no Canadian headcount, no baseline figure and no monthly breakdown. A 142% increase means February's Canadian visa issuance was 2.42 times its earlier monthly average. But was that hundreds or thousands of additional visas? Without the actual numbers, readers cannot assess the scale of the increase. And without subsequent monthly figures, there is no evidence that February's increase continued through October 2026. Fifth, these figures don't even measure total Canadian immigration to the United States. They count immigrant visas issued through US consulates abroad. They exclude people obtaining permanent residence through adjustment of status while already inside the United States. They also don't establish where recipients were previously living, when they actually relocated, or why they applied. A Canadian citizen receiving an immigrant visa is not automatically a Canadian resident fleeing Canada. Nor does a visa issued in February establish that someone moved during February. Sixth, the restrictions affected far more than permanent immigration. By February 2026, student and worker visa issuance had reportedly fallen approximately 30%, while tourist and business visitor visa issuance declined approximately 25% compared with the previous year. Separate Cato Institute analysis found that monthly immigrant visa issuance and permanent refugee admissions from Muslim-majority countries fell from 21,096 in December 2024 to just 808 in February 2026, a decline of approximately 96.2%. Afghanistan reportedly experienced a reduction from 5,563 to nine, approximately 99.8%. These figures combine different immigration categories and cannot be directly equated with consular immigrant visa totals, but they demonstrate the scale of the restrictions. Seventh, even families of US citizens were affected. The reporting identified nearly 6,000 fewer immigrant visas issued to parents of US citizens compared with the previous year. These are established legal immigration pathways, not unauthorized border crossings. Cato Institute immigration expert David Bier characterized the broader restrictions as the largest cuts to legal immigration since the Hoover administration during the Great Depression, excluding the pandemic. And here's what makes Polymarket's framing particularly misleading. The White House itself celebrated the New York Times reporting because it documented a massive reduction in legal immigration. Polymarket takes the Canadian figure from that same dataset, removes the collapse in worldwide issuance, omits the actual Canadian headcount, ignores the restrictions affecting 152 countries, and presents one month's increase as though it establishes a sustained exodus from Canada. The 142% increase may be mathematically accurate. The narrative being built around it is not established by the evidence. The underlying figures document a historic contraction in US legal immigration, with Canada and Mexico moving differently from the global trend. They do not establish that Canadian emigration increased by 142%. They do not establish that Canadians are fleeing Canada. They do not establish that the February increase continued. One month's consular visa issuance is not a national migration trend. And stripping away the figures that explain the wider immigration crackdown doesn't make the Canadian statistic more meaningful. It makes the presentation less honest. Sources: New York Times analysis, as reported by NewsNation: americanewsnation.com/2026/1… VisaVerge breakdown: visaverge.com/legal/us-legal…

Chrystia Freeland bought house at 98 Farnham Ave for $1385000. Listed it May 25, 2021 for $2998000. SOLD 6 days later on May 31, 2021 for $3335000. House sold too quickly for more than the listed price & almost $2 million more than purchase price = political corruption red flags.
