The Denver program to send social workers instead of police (STAR) has responded to over 2,200 calls low-level/intox/MH calls. They have never called for police back-up due to a safety issue. Never. Think about that.

As a software developer, you may be called upon to perform some of these tasks in your career. How well a CS degree prepares you for these tasks (and whether it even should prepare you for these) is left as an exercise to the reader. 🧵 1/

I am still recovering, documenting my injuries, and trying to think clearly about what happened. I didn’t get the chance because they kept arresting and brutalizing my friends. I will be speaking on this shortly.

If anyone ever wonders why handmade beadwork is "expensive" (it's really not at all), it takes me 8 hours of ADHD hyperfocus to make one of these (3.5"x1.5"), and I charge 80$ CAD. Beaders almost always make less than minimum wage, tip yr local bead artist 👍

I’ve seen a bunch of viral tweets about boycotting Amazon in solidarity with the warehouse workers in Alabama. To be clear, the union involved in the election @RWDSU has NOT called for a boycott and has nothing to do with this, a spokesperson confirms.

The developer experience at #Netflix is good, but it could be so much better. There is toil and boilerplate that just doesn't need to exist. Come help my team decompose the platform to the point that devs only need to focus on their code. jobs.netflix.com/jobs/414646…
