So happy that the message is spreading 5 years after releasing. Should have done it sooner but I'm sorta lazy 🤷🏾 #Diewithzero
PS what's up with British?

Too often financial planning starts with the assumption that you won’t have enough money in retirement. Fast Company personal finance writer Emily Guy Birken explains how a die with zero plan can help you feel both generous and abundant. f-st.co/9RipMhM

This is a deep topic.
Your earning power is usually lower when young. There is a balance between how much you: 1, spend, 2, save, 3, invest (financially or in yourself).
The key is finding the near-optimal balance. The book "Die with Zero" goes into more detail on this topic.
CZ: Young people shouldn't over-save and should reinvest resources in themselves
On December 13, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao stated in an interview with Pakistani social entrepreneur Bilal Bin Saqib that his most fundamental way of learning is reading books. He advised young people to prioritize risk management, noting that since they have strong future earning potential, they can afford to take higher risks and should avoid excessive saving. Instead, they should invest resources in themselves to build their personal skill sets.

I don’t read many new books, but here are 3 I re-read every year:
1. Die with Zero by @bp22. Squandering your life is a lot more dangerous than squandering your money.
2. The Road Less Stupid by Keith Cunningham. Stop being busy, start thinking.
3. Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss. An emotional intelligence book disguised as a negotiation book.

Your son makes $92K and just turned 40 in a rental apartment.
You have $5.1M collecting dust.
Explain that to me.
My client watched this happen for 3 years.
"I don't want to enable him."
Enable him to what? Own a home?
Stop bleeding $2,800/month in rent?
Give your grandkids their own bedrooms?
We finally structured a $225K gift last month.
Now his son owns a home. The grandkids have a yard. And he gets to hang out with his grandkids in a space they'll remember forever.
Your kids don't need your money at 65.
They need it at 35 when:
Houses cost $500K
Daycare is $2,400/month
Student loans are $87K
Hope is running out
Give them the inheritance while you're alive to see them use it.

Do yourself a favor and read Die With Zero! Why are we buying stocks and accumulating wealth? What's the point of it? Find your own answers and allocate your resources accordingly throughout your life. This book had the most impact on me, it really changed the way how I think about my life.
Die With Zero by Bill Perkins retweeted
I learned this mindset when I read @DieWithZero.
Great book.
What's the point of dying with money in the bank? You can't take it with you.
In full support of giving inheritance to children when they actually need the money, not when they're living comfortably in their 50s.
Most people wait until they’re gone to pass on their wealth. But the families I work with don’t wait.
They help while they’re alive so they can see the impact.
Helping with childcare or a startup.
Down payment assistance.
Funding a renovation.
Covering a new car.
Not as loans. Not as handouts.
Just genuine help while they’re here to enjoy it.

I had a similar mentality but then I read this book called Die with Zero years ago and it shifted my primary focus from money itself to the actual experience of the life I'm trying to live

I read Die With Zero by Bill Perkins a couple years ago. It didn’t just nudge my thinking. It shattered it.
I’d followed the script: work, save, invest. But I never asked the deeper question: what was I saving for?

I was talking to one of the old heads at the gym, now my buddy. He has 6M in his 401k. Great money but not ultra rich.
He has *no* idea how to spend it. Lives off dividends, interest, and social security.
Get on livin', now.

I’ve stopped waiting for someday.
After reading Die with Zero, I knew I wouldn’t be happier with $2M at 87.
I just hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu with my wife, 3 kids, and my son’s girlfriend.
I’m giving their inheritance while I can enjoy it with them, when it matters.
