LFC: Let me see that phone.
Saints: Aah allow it man I only got it last week.
LFC: Bruv pass the phone.
*hands it over*
LFC: Safe
When you look at the CBs we have, Stephens on the bench makes complete sense. Nice guy, but English-bias has blinkered plenty of fans. The real catastrophe is that Yoshida was benched for so long. Yosh is quite clearly the strongest and the most experienced CB we currently have. xitter.cf/AdamBlackmore/status/9…
Interesting from Mark Hughes ...
#saintsfc lining up in a 5-4-1 or 3-4-3 if you are being positive !
Tadic and Redmond in for Hojbjerg and Long !
Lemina and Hoedt stay in - Stephens on bench 🤔
Not really, we’re just piss poor. xitter.cf/talksaints/status/9862…
Paul Merson: “Southampton have to win. They have Leicester and then Bournemouth at home. Both are winnable, but I just think to Saturday – 2-0 up against a side who didn’t really want to be there. There has to be something wrong with Saints” #Saintsfc
The squad under Puel were performing at a much higher level tbf. It was very average, but that’s mountains above what we’re currently seeing. xitter.cf/rick_harris1/status/98…
This squad has been putting in performances like this under 3 managers now, got to start questioning the players now #saintsfc
Perhaps the most disheartening aspect of this #saintsfc defeat is that Liverpool haven't had to play well. They've strolled through this.
I think we've been incredibly complacent in the transfer market & with the squad, and nothing evidences that more than the dip in the quality of centre backs. #Saintsfc
Hojbjerg, and rightfully so. He's too good for this xitter.cf/saintsfcviews/status/9…
Of course Walcott chose Everton over #saintsfc - From money to the current state of each club, it makes total sense. We aren't an attractive prospect at this point in time
What reason do proven quality have to join us at the moment though? xitter.cf/saintsfcviews/status/9…
Quick deal? Is this some sort of joke.
- Facing a relegation battle #Saintsfc are favouring the cheap option of a bench warmer from the French League. Such a huge chance with the World Cup around the corner to bring in proven quality. It's a mess. 👎🏻 xitter.cf/telefootball/status/95…
If we want to be a top 8 club again then we need a new CB in the summer, there's no way to get around it. #saintsfc xitter.cf/adamblackmore/status/9…
#saintsfc boss Mauricio Pellegrino welcomes back Cedric and Hoedt today - I think this back four is their strongest - Cedric, Stephens, Hoedt & Bertrand.
And whatever some fans may think about change, a Saints win and some respite for Pellegrino is what I hope for today
Yes the manager should be doing better, but let's not pin it all on Pellegrino.
Compare his starting 11 with Koeman/Pochettino & it's clear that we've regressed in many areas.
Either let him go, or trust him with funds. #saintsfc
Mane was superb for us, but an underrated aspect of his game was his direct, off the ball running, stretching play, running beyond the back 4 and leaving space for Tadic/Pelle. Boufal and Redmond both prefer the ball to feet so that no longer happens. #saintsfc
