Easily my pick of the Tears For Fears albums on offer in #5albums80s5. Seeds of Love was an attempt to get recognition as serious musicians rather than just being a pop band but in hindsight (and helped by Donnie Darko) that was obvious from the start. open.spotify.com/album/3sIFp…

#5albums80s5 Seems cruel that my two all time favourite Australian albums are drawn together in the same semi. A very strong contender but no guarantee of a top 5 spot in this group of death. open.spotify.com/album/5dZEZ…

#5albums80s5 This is definitely a top 5 contender. Slightly ramshackle for sure but for me that just adds to the charm. More than anything though is the sheer joie de vivre of it. An absolute joy to listen to every time. open.spotify.com/album/6yZwW…

#5albums80s5 Not a contender so an album I can just enjoy without worrying about whether it's in or out. Well, that was the idea but maybe I've made life harder for myself. For a debut (and for a long time only) album it's a truly stunning achievement. open.spotify.com/album/7EorE…

#5albums80s #FallFriday My favourite Fall album but in this group of death still not 100% guaranteed to make my top 5. If it does fall short I will take solace in having voted for 2 Fall albums last week. open.spotify.com/album/0st8n…

So many albums in #5albums80s5 are my favourite by that particular artist, which is why this a contender rather than a certainty. Your Silent Face in particular never fails to impress. open.spotify.com/album/6NTrw…

#5albums80s5 Probably my favourite Husker Du album as it showcases both their hardcore and pop sides and not a second wasted on it too. Very strong contender for my top 5. open.spotify.com/album/2eOu9…

Easily pick of the Prince albums on offer for #5albums80s5. An album that doesn't play safe but still offers 44 minutes of perfection. Truly remarkable album and pretty much a certainty for my top 5. spotify.link/bzflcnLaqOb

I've got so many incredibly strong contenders for #5albums80s5 that this may be my only absolute certainty. Without doubt The Go-Betweens crowning glory. Should it make the final it would be guaranteed my vote in that too. spotify.link/i2rF1to7pOb

Possibly the greatest power pop album ever. Certainly the best one that hardly anyone has heard. spotify.link/gymDUa3zoOb

This masterpiece by The Soft Boys is probably my favourite album not to make it through to the 80s poll semis. Sad to see it just miss out but maybe a relief given how brutal I think SF5 will be. spotify.link/D7wR1ROqoOb

More Felt but now moving to the Duffy era with a very different sound. Probably my favourite latter period album and a worthy album for Felt to end on. spotify.link/vWT7NSsUmOb

Sticking with Felt and another one from the Deebank era. Second to Splendour of Fear in my Felt rankings but really not much in it. spotify.link/v2evEL6QmOb

Probably my favourite Felt album but sadly not making it through to the 80s polls semis. Maybe the Felt album where the Television influence is most evident. spotify.link/xKL0Q1uNmOb

Something to ween me off Dexy's Don't Stand Me Down. The Werewolves riff really is fantastic and Dexy's do the original more than justice, even if they did have to pay for it. open.spotify.com/album/03WJA…

Not a new album to me but for some reason it has totally blown me away this week. I genuinely can't stop playing it and it will top my #5albums80s4 list by a mile.

#5albums80s4 No absolute certainties for me in this semi, which leaves lots of albums in the running. This, with stunning highlights and never less than beautiful, is one of them. open.spotify.com/album/566tD…

#5albums80s4 LRP just missed my top 5 last week and Fables looks like it's in an incredibly strong group in SF5. This therefore could be REM's best chance to make my top 5 in the 80s polls. It's duly risen to the challenge though and is a top 5 certainty. open.spotify.com/album/24O8M…

#5albums80s4 Probably my favourite Elvis Costello album and, with the 70s polls likely to be even more brutal, definitely his best chance to make my top 5. open.spotify.com/album/1pK8M…
