I knew you were struggling too and I tried so many times to understand that. I was patient because I knew you were fighting battles I couldn’t see. I never expected you to have everything figured out and I never wanted to make your pain about me. But sometimes, I wished you would realise that your actions were hurting me too. It’s not easy being treated coldly by someone you care about. It’s not easy being pushed away, wondering what you did wrong and crying over someone when all you ever wanted was to show them that you were there, that you cared, that you weren’t going anywhere. Maybe that’s why it hurts so much. Because when I was the one struggling, I never made you feel like you were too much. I never wanted you to question whether you were loved just because I was hurting. I understood your pain. I just wish you had noticed mine too. Because I was trying so hard to hold space for everything you were going through while quietly breaking over the way you were treating me.
