I hugely recommend Charlotte: A Novel by @DevlinMartina. 'The story of 2 marriages and 3 lives irrevocably intertwined, told by the woman who went on to wed Brontë’s widower. Theirs was a love triangle of devotion and heartache, friendship and deception, passion and obsession.'

My first big read for @thecurrency is about the crazy years when Ireland's local papers were being sold for massive money - and what happened next. It's mostly a story about people: the owners who sold, the ones who didn't and the people behind the deals. Part 1 (of 3) is below:

In 2020, @MaryLouMcDonald told the Irish Council Against Blood Sports: "Sinn Fein is opposed to foxhunting and we will vote in favour of a ban at the next opportunity". We are calling on @sinnfeinireland to support Ruth Coppinger TD's bill to ban fox hunting on 17th December 🦊

"Fox hunting is BARBARIC and long overdue a ban. Fox hunting is not pest control, as its defenders insist. It is a blood sport in which a wild animal is chased and killed in cruel circumstances" - Martina Devlin, Novelist/Columnist. #Ireland #BanFoxHunting

Next month legislation to ban fox hunting comes before the Dáil. TDs have an opportunity to ban this barbaric blood sport. Will the big parties allow their TDs to do the right thing? My column e-pages.dk/irishindependent/…

Fox hunting is a cruel 'pursuit' imported from Britain and it's time it was banned

Over the summer, a skinny young fox regularly entered our front garden in the evening to forage among flowerbeds for worms and other insects. Sometimes, I'd spot him trotting along neighbourhood...
