In India, there has been a surge in state-backed orders to take down online content on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube between March and July this year, when the "cockroach" student protests broke out.

My latest for @ForeignPolicy explains why the current protests in India are unlikely to die down anytime soon-but it also explains why it’s wrong to compare them with recent mass movements for change in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal. foreignpolicy.com/2026/10/14…

"Hanson, meanwhile, brings so much internalised misogyny to the table that it takes the breath away. Whether the subject is childcare, paid parental leave or family violence, which she recently called a “two-way street” on Brisbane radio, she has rarely been the voice in the room pushing for women and girls to have it easier than those who came before them. She and her party choose to be aggressive, destructive and divisive instead."

Worst case scenario for Ukraine.
EXCLUSIVE: Putin has proposed that he, Trump and Xi meet next month to talk about Ukraine in an attempt to negotiate an end to the four-year conflict that would favor Moscow, said people familiar with the discussions wsj.com/world/russia/putin-f… @Lingling_Wei @learyreports @tggrove @jdawsey1

Humiliating and dangerous: Trump has now finally just made America an ally of the Kremlin and is aiding Putin in his war against an American friend and partner. Shameful betrayal of a US friend, and pathetic submission to a US enemy.

It's Western countries that have facilitated this impunity.
Now they're seeing it close up.
Masked Israeli settlers attacked a delegation of European diplomats and public figures, as well as Palestinian olive harvesters, in the Christian village of Taybeh near Ramallah on Saturday.
The attackers also smashed a window of a Belgian consular vehicle, the reports said.

Incase you missed it yesterday, an Israeli marketing firm used website ads to distribute spyware created by Israeli developer Candiru and all it took for it to infect people’s phone was visiting a website with the infected ads on it and then allowing the ad to load on the page.
There are potentially hundreds of millions of people with Israeli spyware on their phones right now and they have no clue.

“Let me die,” American photojournalist Heidi Levine repeats to journalists Jasper Nathaniel as they try to outrun masked Israeli settlers who attacked her on Friday while she covered the olive harvest in the West Bank village of Abu Falah, near Ramallah.
Around 80 settlers attacked Palestinian olive harvesters in the village, AP reported. The Palestinian Red Crescent said it treated six people injured in two attacks in Abu Falah.
Levine, a freelancer for the Washington Post, told the Committee to Protect Journalists that the settlers knocked her down and kicked her for at least 10 minutes, even after she identified herself as an American journalist. They stole her camera, phone and bag. She was eventually taken to a hospital in Ramallah.
"The IDF provided cover, with tear gas and machine guns, while the settlers beat" Levine "nearly to death," Nathaniel wrote, adding that soldiers then shot a Palestinian bystander and aimed their guns at and shoved paramedics trying to treat him. AP photos and circulating videos show Israeli soldiers standing over a wounded Palestinian man after they shot him.
Andrey X, an activist also at the scene, said a Palestinian man "saved our lives from the settler-terrorists who attacked the olive harvesters and journalists” armed only with a slingshot.

Despite Israel’s efforts to deny its direct evidence, the film NAZA is receiving rave reviews because it powerfully reveals the Israeli military’s clinical devaluing of Palestinian civilian life in Gaza, all told by Israeli military officers themselves. trib.al/ToyA0a5
