The stereotypical delegation of British and Irish accents in #RingsOfPower made for very uncomfortable watching. Great mix of English private school for the elves, Northern English for the human peasants, Scottish for the cheeky drawfs, and Irish(?) for the raggedy halflings 🙃

How far are we from the future when historians can put on VR headsets and do archival visits virtually? Cause that would be awesome.
Just passed the US consulate on our evening walk and no joke it was absolutely howfin with the smell of gunpowder.
It was so nice to put on my scholar hat after a wee break and chair the Migration & Identity panel at #SASA2021. Heard some great papers by @TahitiaMcCabe, Emma Gleave, and @noralessersohn. The Q&A session was so active I could barely kept up with the chat panel!
I’m a bit bruised, but I have survived and passed the viva. I have some corrections as I start my new career in software development next week (surprise, plot twist! #GirlsWhoCode), but I’m thrilled I slayed the viva beast and never have to perform an elevator pitch, ever again!
Can I just say... every PhD student needs to get a pal like @CEAubin that sends you a pre-viva relaxation care package. I’m gonna be one smooth and sweet smelling doctoral candidate 👌🏼
How am I, a snow deprived Floridian, supposed to focus on my viva prep when there’s all this big fluffy stuff outside??
I thought my recurring nightmares of missing highschool assignments were going to last into old age, but recently they've matured to a theme of me disappointing my PhD supervisors.

I will be forever incapacitated by the mystery of what he thinks YMCA is about, but watching him inch down the stairs to “Young man/there’s no need to feel down” and imagining him thinking “That Village Person means me! I’m the young man!” is really sad and hilarious and fitting.
