This is cruel, twisted and the very height of evil but heartbreakingly, it’s unsurprising. Every woman you know has had to look over her shoulder, run and run fast, take a longer route home or call a loved one in fear because of a man.

Do not tell us how to stay safe. We’ve known it since we were children and frankly, we’re done. The boys who “will be boys” grow into the men we run from - fix that problem, and then we can talk.

Britain is adept at airbrushing its history. We remember the abolition of the Transatlantic slave trade, while forgetting its initiation and perpetuation. We celebrate the culture of the Raj, white Kenya etc, while forgetting the murder and theft underpinning British colonialism
I just walked away from the TV, showing Boris the middle finger as he delivers his briefing, all the while seething at the state of the world. Then I see this. Feeling a bit better now.

Some thoughts post #BlackOutTuesday - 1. What will you do now that you've posted that black square? Ask yourself, and do more. 2. See that we are not equal. Amy called the police on Christian knowing that they're there to protect white bodies and punish black bodies.

3. Understand that racism isn't just an "American problem". Belly Mujinga, Mark Duggan, Stephen Lawrence, and Grenfell to name a few make our country culpable too. 4. Our history isn't fully taught and understood. While the system fails, individuals can educate themselves.

It’s common sense not to vote Tory in the first fucking place. What a shit show.
All optimism is being seriously tested. There is a way out of this, but I have no faith in our government’s ability or desire to take us there safely.
