AI can make producing code easier without making understanding code easier.
The teacher believes that the important skill for the next generation of developers is not simply knowing how to ask AI for code, but knowing enough to question, inspect, test, and improve what AI produces.
For someone learning software engineering, this means you should learn to use AI as a coding assistant while still understanding the code it generates.
You do not need to memorise every line of syntax, but you should understand the fundamentals well enough to recognise when a solution is wrong.
Don't just learn how to make AI build things. Learn how to tell whether what AI built is worth trusting.
Anyone building SaaS for Nigerian businesses without thinking offline-first is building for a country that doesn't exist.
When the light goes and data finishes, the repair shop still has to log the phone that just came in.

Iβm a very private person, maybe due to my upbringing.
I sometimes wish to share every little win like others do, but another part of me always resists.
Am I the only one who feels this way, or is it wrong not to share every little win?

Unpopular opinion but most small business sites in Lagos don't need Next.js
static pages, decent hosting, proper local SEO and a WhatsApp button. that setup quietly beats a lot of the fancy builds i get asked to "fix"
Lowkey, messages like this give me joy π€©π€

Two friends graduate the same year.
One lands a job with a big firm on the Island.
Within two years: a car, an apartment, pictures at every event. Everyone says he has made it.
The other goes back home and opens a small shop. Aunties keep asking his mother when he'll get a proper job.
Five years later, the first one is good at his work but tired. Salary finishes before the month does and he's scared to move.
The second one now has three shops and people who depend on him for their own salary. Nobody remembers they ever doubted him.
Neither of them was ahead. Neither was behind. They were just running on different clocks.
Stop measuring your life with somebody else's timeline.
Running an agency in Nigeria teaches you the work is only half the job.
The other half is chasing approvals, explaining why hosting needs renewing, and sending the same invoice reminder in three polite tones.
None of it shows on the portfolio. All of it is the business.
I opened code I wrote four years ago and laughed.
Functions doing five jobs. Variables named "data2". Comments that said "fix later", and later never came.π
But that messy code shipped and solved a real problem though.
If your old code embarrasses you, good. It means you grew.
This is me 2016 when i start building blog websites to make money from people interactions and impressions ππ
My Facebook ads account was disabled since then till now π₯Ί
