America’s corporate governance system is broken, and it’s killing public companies. Look no further than Cracker Barrel: Decades of brutal mismanagement have seen one incompetent CEO after another walk away with a massive paycheck while customers and actual shareholders take a beating.
Why does this keep happening? Because proxy advisory firms like ISS are corrupt. They blindly rubber-stamp failing boards year after year, protecting the corporate elite while burning shareholder value to the ground.
The root of the rot is index funds. There's no question that indexing one's money is a smart financial move for most people. But just because you passively index your investments doesn't mean your corporate votes should be handed over to the managers of your fund so they can play politics. Right now, passive funds hold massive, unchecked voting blocks while having zero skin in the game themselves.
It is time for a simple rewrite of the rules: We need to index the votes of index fund investors.
Passive index funds should be forced to automatically split their votes to proportionately mirror those of retail and active institutional shareholders — the people actually doing the research, risking their capital, and fighting for performance in the companies they hold shares in. No more rubber-stamping. A change like this will immediately strip corrupt gatekeepers like ISS of their toxic influence.
True accountability happens when lazy, overpaid boards actually answer to the stakeholders they represent, rather than screwing them over.
Actual, logic-driven governance when your money is passive happens when your vote passively follows the voting decisions of the actual market.
We need to stop letting passive capital protect active incompetence. By stripping index funds of their arbitrary voting power and empowering engaged investors, we will finally torch corporate cronyism and usher American capital markets into a golden age of capitalism.

I support a mosque being built anywhere in the US. I think it should be the goal of every American to be tolerant regardless of their religious beliefs.
To promote tolerance, I would also propose that two nightclubs be opened next door to the mosque. We could call one of the clubs, which would be gay, The Turban Cowboy and the other, a topless bar, would be called You Mecca Me Hot.
Next door should be a butcher shop that specializes in pork and across the street, an open-pit barbecue pork restaurant, called Iraq of Ribs.
We could also have a lingerie store called Victoria Keeps Nothing Secret and a liquor store called Mohammered.
All of this would encourage Muslims to demonstrate the tolerance they demand of us.
Yes we should promote tolerance, and you can do your part by passing this on. 😎 I did my part 😉or we can just send them back to where ever they came from.....

Let's not sanctify poor Jason Arday in death the way he was overhyped by his cherishers in life. This is a tragic end to a tawdry and disgraceful story. The worst actors here were his enablers. He was a charlatan, not a criminal. His enablers were moral and ideological scum.

The Devoured by the Revolution series.
My next series is coming today, and in short order. Communism is making a resurgence. I’m seeing increasing calls for “revolution”.
Let’s take a trip down the memory lane of nightmares and educate the masses on what happens to revolutionaries.
Every revolution has its useful fanatics.
The students who scream first. The street fighters who break bones. The intellectuals who justify blood. The true believers who think the party will reward purity once power is seized.
They NEVER understand the bargain.
A revolution needs chaos while it is weak. Once it wins, chaos becomes a rival. The same people once praised as the vanguard become undisciplined, embarrassing, dangerous, or inconvenient.
Then the party remembers what it was built to do.
It purges.
This series is about the people who carried revolutions into power and were later crushed by the thing they worshiped.
The revolution does not love its children.
It eats them first.
I aim to show you what’s coming, and that right soon.

Apparently pseudo-oyster farmer and Maine Democrat Senatorial candidate Graham Platner is dropping out of the race against incumbent Susan Collins. A breaking news story says he sexually assaulted a former girlfriend.
The real story here is that the Democrats were so desperate to capture the vote of actual men with normal testosterone levels that they nominated a guy with an SS Nazi tattoo, a history of misogyny and bizarre online sexual comments, and a record of sexual assault.
After their foray with the masculinity of Fancy Tim Walz, that was the best they could do.
The Democrat Party is toxic to actual men.

Compare Calvin Coolidge on America’s 150th anniversary:
“It is often asserted that the world has made a great deal of progress since 1776, that we have had new thoughts and new experiences which have given us a great advance over the people of that day, and that we may therefore very well discard their conclusions for something more modern. But that reasoning can not be applied to this great charter. If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people. Those who wish to proceed in that direction can not lay claim to progress. They are reactionary. Their ideas are not more modern, but more ancient, than those of the Revolutionary fathers."

You should be surprised by the birthright citizenship case. You should be surprised that it didn’t lose by more. I am.
You should also not freak out. You don’t want to hear this, but I’m going to tell you anyway. The majority opinion is not so outrageously wrong as to justify you wetting yourself. After all, it affirmed the common and accepted position for about a century and a half.
Yes, I think the Constitution does not require birthright citizenship. But the legal argument for it isn't so outrageous or crazy that you should freak out. Robert and Barrett are not traitors; they adopted what, until a few years ago, was the common understanding of the 14th Amendment whether we like it or not or agree with it or not (the leftists are hacks who will always do with the left wants regardless of the Constitution).
Instead, we need to focus on getting that fifth justice who will correctly analyze the issue

Universities are loan sales companies.
Their main product is selling loans, that can’t be discharged in bankruptcy, to young people who don’t understand their finances yet.
The loans are federally backed by the US government. And when the financially illiterate person defaults, it is added to the national debt.
The loan proceeds fund radical socialist and communist university staff who would otherwise be unemployable in the real world.

Nobody in Africa has ever died because of cuts to foreign aid.
They died because as individuals and societies, they were incompetent to survive without the aid.
Encouraging that dependence was a crueler thing than colonialism ever did.

⭕️The 16+ kilometer underground tunnel in which LT Hadar Goldin was held has now been sealed, using 30,000+ cubic meters of concrete.
The tunnel complex included ~80 living quarters and served as a Hamas terrorist command-and-control center.
The tunnel was located near the Philadelphi Corridor and ran beneath a residential neighborhood, mosques, kindergartens, clinics, a school & a UNRWA clinic.

I’m supportive of international public health aid when it comes to cheap interventions like dispensing HIV and TB and malaria meds. (I am a lib 🤷♂️ .)
However, Kristof is just making everything worse.
First, you can’t hysterically crybully Americans into supporting these programs and trying to do so instead of making a calm, measured case just makes people reactive and oppositional because it’s so obviously a cynical, manipulative tactic.
Second, it’s not our responsibility to fill up anyone’s gas tank. All of these initiatives have to be completely reconsidered and our obligations need to be clearly defined. That Kristof can’t intuit that Americans would oppose filling foreign gas tanks demonstrates just how out of touch he is and that he’s bound to do more harm than good in attempting to propagandize on behalf of international public health.
Third, none of these vignettes meet even the most basic evidentiary standards to support his assertions. Furthermore, this isn’t how it’s done - big programs need to be supported by population level data and Kristof is obviously trying to be emotionally manipulative with anecdotes rather than addressing the policy questions in the right way with the right type of data.
Fourth, it’s lazy and cynical to try to lay this all on Musk. Maybe you shouldn’t have billion dollar ‘managed democracy’ and leftist NGO dark money sinkholes wearing the skin suit of true humanitarian programs. Maybe the people who designed these programs as such deserve a little more (or a lot more) of the blame for intentionally putting them in proximity to legitimate political targets.
Every time I read a half-informed journo trying to do advocacy for foreign health aid I cringe because it’s clear they don’t know what they’re talking about and are making lazy, motivated assertions that are bound to backfire and make things worse. If journos really cared about these issues and weren’t just scrounging for cheap partisan artillery they’d be a lot more carful, thoughtful, and reserved in what they’re arguing.
.@elonmusk says that no one can name a person who died from his aid cuts. In fact, I've met the kids who are dying, and I've talked to the families who lost children. In my columns, I've cited many, many names of people who have died because of Musk's aid cuts. A few examples:
*Yamah Freeman was a 23-year-old woman who died in childbirth because Musk cut funding for the diesel for ambulances in her part of Liberia. She couldn't get to a hospital and died as people were carrying her there. I talked to her parents and sister in their village.
*Gbessey Kiadu, age 1, died of malaria because of his cuts to malaria medication in Liberia. I talked to his mom in her village.
*Ibrahim Koroma, an infant, died of AIDS in Sierra Leone after he interrupted HIV supplies. I talked to health workers who cared for him.
*Achol Deng was an 8-year-old girl with HIV in South Sudan who died when Musk cut funding for the health care worker who provided her medicines. I talked to the healthcare workers.
I could go on and on. In almost every village you go to in South Sudan, Uganda, Liberia, Sierra Leone or other countries I reported in, you find people dying because of aid cuts. I challenge Musk: Come with me on a reporting trip, and we'll talk to these moms and dads, and you'll see the dying children themselves. I think if you see the kids whose lives are at stake, maybe you'll change your mind.

It makes sense that Elon Musk is a trillionaire because of all the amazing things he’s created for society — space rockets, self-driving cars, AI robots — but it feels like a failure of capitalism that Bernie Sanders is a millionaire as he’s never once done anything useful for anyone. He’s a carbuncle on America’s ass.

Saw citizen vigilante yesterday.
If you judge the movie based on storytelling, acting and finesse, it's dog shit.
But judge it as a proof of concept that a person can self-finance and bootstrap a movie based on passion and urgent message that no one in Hollywood would dare touch, that Elon Musk would personally promote and millions would see in less than 24 hours, and it is a spectacular success.
It's a great start and shows the right can conquer culture if they stop whining and just do it.
