PHOTONS OFF THE STARBOARD BOW
We have Khan’s crew on the Reliant. And Kirk's crew on the Enterprise. You are in the Mutara Nebular and a single photon torpedo each to defend yourselves with.
Your team mission is to get your torpedo to “hit” the opponents ship without the aid of scanners and computer guidance which were damaged in a previous battle so it’s down to the crew.
In this case, your torpedo is a ball that you have to keep bouncing like in basketball and pass from crew member to crew member. The aim is to defeat the enemy ship by reaching the reactor core (the goal).
The slight difference to standard basketball is there are two torpedoes (balls) at play at one time and your own torpedo can be captured and used against you.
This is a fun activity, so you need to play to win but be mindful of others. We do not want any casualties to be sent to the med deck🙂
And remember above all have fun and “destroy” the opposition ship for your ships pride.
Spectators welcome
LIVE ACTION: KLINGON VS FEDERATION BATTLE
Choose your team; part of the Federation or part of the glorious Klingon empire. As the captain of a ship your mission is to destroy as many enemy vessels as you can to protect your civilisation.
Simple rules or warfare:
- You have a ship attached to your foot by tractor berm or in this case, a string and a piece of paper with a printed starship on it.
- Then the Klingons and the Federation go to war and your aim is to try and tread on the opposition’s starship.
- Once the starship has been removed from the players foot i.e. the string has come away from the piece of paper you are finished. Your shields are down your reactor core is spent and you're no longer able to defend or fight and are out of the game
- At the end of the game, they'll be a few ships left but will they be Klingon or Federation?
- If there is just a few of your kind left, then that civilisation wins. If at the end, there is one Klingon and one Federation, that it is truly a fight to the death and with your last breath I spit at you.
- In Karh style enter the game at your own risk please sign the document stating such
This is a fun activity, so you need to play to win but be mindful of others. We do not want any wounded soldiers 🙂
And remember above all have fun and “destroy” as many opposition ships as you can but watch out don't miss stamp and take out one of your own.
Spectators welcome

Mr Data, you have the conn: Command in the Age of AI’ - On a starship bridge, a captain must calmly assess the situation and decide on the best course of action at a moment’s notice. This talk explores how AI is moving into this role, as machines increasingly shape decisions in complex environments. When the system can process faster, see further, and recommend better options than any individual, will a human captain always be the best choice to be in command, or should an android be at the conn?
A serving Royal Signals officer, Sam has first-hand experience of leadership meeting increasingly capable technology—from deploying AI on operations for the first time to service at UK Space Command—using that experience to explore the evolving relationship between human judgement and the systems that support it.
