A recruiting service will call your house this month. They will know your son's name, his travel team, and exactly what a worried parent's checkbook sounds like. Here is what college coaches tell me about the product: mass emails from services get deleted unread. What gets read is four sentences from the player himself, why that program, a video link, a transcript, his summer schedule. Your son can send that tonight for free. The service is selling you a stamp and calling it a relationship.
