I have sneakily re-launched my DayZ server. Currently running Livonia, heavily survival focused with some jumpscares and surprises as usual. Server name "Derleth's Livonia Den".

Are there actually some people out there who genuinely like how "Rings of Power" has treated its source material? Or are the few fans the show has gained all illiterates whose entire knowledge of Tolkien comes from...Rings of Power?

Me, I only nade it through the first season by sheer effort of will. The casting and writing is so horribly bad that it baffles me anyone watches it at all, let alone any actual fan of Tolkien's works. What a stupendous waste of resources. It pisses me off.

Kherson. A russian human safari — POV. A russian drone operator hunts a civilian like prey — deliberately tracking him from above. They film their war crimes and boast about them. The world has no right to look away. Share it. This is russia. These are russians.

I found out this morning from the Two Beards & a Producer Podcast team that @RedFalcon passed away after a sudden illness. A lot of people in the @DayZ community will know Red because of his mods. His helicopters, boats, solar panels and all the other stuff he somehow managed to make work in this wonderfully broken game of ours. But to us at 87.8 Survivor FM, he was much more than the bloke who made helicopters. Red was one of us. He spent time as a host on the show, sat around talking shit about DayZ with us, shared his knowledge and was just a genuinely good bloke to have around. That stream I did testing his heli’s was one of my most fun moments in playing this game. I’ve been looking through his Steam Workshop since hearing the news and I don’t think I’d ever really stopped to appreciate just how much stuff he actually made, or how many people have used it. The RedFalcon Flight System alone has been subscribed to more than a million times. Then there’s his Watercraft, the Mosquito, Solar Panel Power System, Buildings, Loot Crates and a heap of other work. That’s a pretty bloody impressive mark to leave on a game and a community. There’s also something I found while looking through all of this that hit me a bit harder today. Red once described what he was trying to do with his work as being “for the enrichment of the DayZ Community.” Mate, you did exactly that. thats one of the things I respected about him, his decision to release the core of his flight mod for others to use was a gigachad move. But not just with the mods. You enriched our little corner of the DayZ community as well. My thoughts are obviously with Ken’s family, his friends, the Falconers and everyone else in the community who knew and loved him. We’ll do something on Survivor FM to remember Red properly, because he deserves that. For now though, I just wanted to say goodbye to a mate. Thanks for everything, Red. Rest easy mate. You won’t be forgotten. ❤️ steamcommunity.com/profiles/…

Out on a nice early morning walk and look what i just randomly stumbled upon in the middle of the street…unequivocally proving that the best time to find one is when you’re NOT looking for one. #dayz

And there it is: no longer just games. Movies, Software, your GPS, all of it. "You will own nothing and be happy" was never a statement of intent. It was a prophecy.
A man was refused a refund after his digital copy of the Lord of the Rings movies disappeared from his library The company confirmed the movies were removed from its catalogue but said he would not be compensated

Putin famously claimed that the collapse of the Soviet Union was the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the 20th century. He could not be more wrong. The fall of the USSR was actually the greatest geopolitical miracle of modern history, freeing tens of millions of people from a brutal, blood-soaked empire. The Soviet Union was a human disaster, a totalitarian crime against humanity, and a system that put war and imperialism ahead of feeding its own people. For decades, the world was forced to endure the myth of the USSR as a superpower dedicated to human progress. In reality, it was nothing more than an advanced, totalitarian iteration of the Russian Empire. It was an illegitimate project built on lies, paranoia, and catastrophic human suffering. It was a war-hungry, paranoid mistake of a country that sacrificed tens of millions of lives across its republics. The Soviet ideology was fundamentally flawed because it placed a rigid, totalizing dogma above human dignity and basic freedom. It substituted human enterprise with central planning, creating an unsustainable economy that could build nuclear missiles but failed to put bread on the tables of its citizens. From a historical perspective, the USSR was an aggressive, imperialistic state. It helped unleash the horrors of World War II by signing a pact with Nazi Germany in 1939, agreeing to carve up Eastern Europe. The alliance only ended because Hitler turned on Stalin in 1941. Throughout its existence, Moscow treated member republics as colonies, extracting their wealth and enforcing cultural dominance while silencing any form of dissent through the Gulag system and police state surveillance. When the Soviet Union finally imploded, tens of millions of colonized people were freed from Moscow's grip. Look at the Baltic states today. Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania transformed into flourishing European democracies with living standards that far exceed anything Russia has ever produced. They stand as living proof that Russian control was the single greatest obstacle to human flourishing in the region. Modern Russia's brutal attempt to eradicate Ukraine is proof that Moscow never accepted the death of its empire. Driven by corrupt, paranoid leadership, Russia is committing genocide because it has no ideology or attractive model left to sell. It can only sell imperialism and death. Defeating this imperial machine in Ukraine is a global imperative. If the Russian empire is not shattered in Ukraine, it will remain a permanent threat to peace and force us to confront it elsewhere later

Today, many were shocked by yet another video of the drone “safari” Russians are carrying out against civilians in Kherson. A Russian drone deliberately hunted down a man selling vegetables and detonated right next to him. The Russians even admitted to the crime, showing zero regret and openly boasting about tormenting people. The man was wounded in the blast. Every single day, ordinary people in Kherson face these Russian "safaris." The world must see this. It must see every piece of evidence that Russia has gone mad and that its soldiers take pleasure in killing and abusing civilians. Without pressure on Russia, the dismantling of its capacity for aggression, and real security guarantees, it is simply impossible to imagine the world being able to coexist with this evil. We must remain resolute in defending life. We must act and support life in ways that force Russia to seriously think about peace rather than expanding the range of its drones. This is not just about Ukraine. Russia’s campaign against human life must be stopped here in Ukraine before it spreads further. Finland and Kazakhstan, the Baltic states and Poland, the countries of the South Caucasus, Romania, and Moldova—all should work together to ensure real security guarantees and bring Russia’s war to an end. Peace is needed, which requires cooperation among everyone in the world who truly values peace. Thank you to everyone standing with Ukraine!

Right, so I got around to see "Citizen Vigilante" the other day, and thought I'd take a few minutes to talk about it since it has sparked some controversy. 🧵

Everything else happens every day around Europe (just read the news) and THAT is why the film is controversial. Not because a fictional psycho massacres guilty, police & the odd innocent without breaking a sweat, but because the events that trigger his actions are very real.

And a lot of people don't want to admit that, because it makes their whole world view crumble. End of 🧵
