Google has been testing anti-bot measures that eliminate all client side links in favor of google. com/goto... server side redirects. It was widely reported the first week of August from the first major test, and as of this morning, we're seeing near 100% rollout across several residential ip providers. Here's a chart showing the percentage of goto only SERPs we've fetched over the last ~4 months of the test. At Nozzle we've been discarding those so that our customer data isn't polluted with opaque links, and the percentages were low enough that it wasn't an issue. If this continues as is, we're looking at something akin to the num=100 rollout from last fall. The goto links can't be decoded, so providers will have to follow the redirect links. While that works in small scale tests, Google seems likely to make that tough, since each SERP will have hundreds of links to decode. cc @rustybrick @brodieseo @glenngabe

Please stop requiring me to auth multiple times per day @googlecloud. gcloud makes me do it, then you kill all my open tabs in the Cloud Console, requiring my passkey for every open tab individually.

One of my favorite people in the world,@noahlearner, is going to be in town next week for skiing and an SEO meetup. He is so genuine, runs the biggest SEO community, and loves to connect with people. He's been building awesome tooling for years for both agency and enterprise use cases, and AI has accelerated his productivity. He's going to share specific tools he has built, and nobody is more transparent about the process than Noah. You'd be hard pressed to find a better way to spend a Wednesday night than this, so come join us next week from 6:00-8:30 at the Big Leap office in Lehi! Food and drinks will be provided. luma.com/4kwvoiy6

We've started seeing a third level product pop up. The right panel product viewer has been around for a long time, but now when you click on the three dots next to a retailer, another panel pops up with specific details about that product in that store, including price history

Hot take: I've never gotten into Prince, but decided I needed to give at least the top 10 a chance. I don't understand how Prince vs MJ is even a debate. Prince isn't "bad", but I keep looking over to see how much longer I have to grin and bear through the end of most songs.

Since May of 2024, Google started decreasing the appearances of the "Fast pickup or delivery" product pack by 60-70% each weekend. The blue line in the image below tells us the number of #SERPs that contain this specific product pack each day out of ~90,000 e-commerce keywords

"Reply UNSUB if you’d like me to stop emailing" This is the quickest way for me to report you as spam and block you. Are cold emailers recommending this because having an unsubscribe link makes it less deliverable?

Why am I ranking in position 1st and I've lost so much organic search traffic for the same queries? Here's what to do 👇👀 There's an ongoing shift in organic search traffic behavior due to the increase and continuous shift in SERP features: products or videos carousels, knowledge panels, position zero, etc., so it has become fundamental to track well beyond positions to understand what's happening in the SERPs: 1. SERP features inclusions 2. Pixel visibility from the top 3. Clicks on top ranked pages ... and their shifts over time to be able to assess where the traffic is going to refine your strategy accordingly. Thankfully we have a variety of tools that can help us with it, eg. rank trackers like @awebranking or @nozzleio provide SERP features inclusions, pixel visibility and their shifts; and @Similarweb provides click data. It's time to fill the gap of your own position and traffic data with SERP features, pixel visibility and clicks data in the SERPs.

This mobile SERP for "decorative pillows" is wild! In @nozzleio, we collect data for 'not visible' items in carousels too. This image shows the #2-5 results w/mini map of the SERP at the left showing ~40 organic results w/carousel for a total of 704 results to click on. #SERPs

We've started seeing and parsing AI Overview results showing up as the answer to PAAs in @nozzleio. Since the majority of answers have been featured snippets in the past, it's no surprise that AI Overviews are sneaking in. Keyword: best 5 seater suv @SERPalerts @rustybrick

In case it's useful to anyone else, they got back with us. Despite being a customer in good standing since 2019, they decided to lock our account without notification because we missed a single email in June asking us to upload some documents verifying our physical address.

Here's the email from June. I understand they have KYC requirements, but this was a terrible rollout. There were no obvious notifications in the UI that we were going to be shut off, and no reminder emails. The only notification we received was from Stripe.
