The @NWS_NTWC has now issued a #tsunami ADVISORY for Washington state. If you are on the coast, stay OUT OF THE WATER & AWAY FROM THE SHORE, which includes HARBORS and MARINAS due to strong currents & dangerous waves.
Details here: tsunami.gov/events/PAAQ/2025… #wawx
The same company that gutted the Everett Herald earlier this year & is now proposing journalists' pay be tied to ridiculous story quotas is also proposing substantial layoffs in Bend, roughly 30 days after taking over as new owners & false promises that there would be no layoffs.
Carpenter Media Group is a threat to PNW journalism.
These journalists deserve better. Their local communities deserve better.
Please show your support for @EverettGuild & @CentraloregonNG. Write letters to Carpenter here:

Carpenter Media Group is at it again: Taking a newly purchased publication and pushing for cuts and reductions just weeks later.
We and @CentraloregonNG look forward to bargaining with the company next week and fighting against proposed layoffs.

don't even own the paper yet and they're already censoring the news

And in a bad practice reminiscent of Carpenter trying to censor an Everett Herald article about layoffs this summer, a Bulletin article about the sale that included info about upcoming layoffs of mailroom employees has been replaced by a press release.

Carpenter Media, which bought Pamplin and promptly laid off Oregon journalists, is set to take over EO Media next month. Oregonians deserve better than this.

Ok, storytellers. Let's talk about the hardest story I have done in years: Anatomy of a Crash. It's about a high-speed chase in which four teens ran from police until the kids crashed.
One teen died & another charged with murder. 3 people injured. Two cops punished 1/

We canvassed tonight outside a podcast live-taping event @CascadePBS co-hosted, asking community members to send an email to our CEO (who makes nearly 7X the average unit member’s salary) voicing their support for a #FairContractNow. tinyurl.com/Email-the-Cascad… (1/3)

Today, the Anchorage News Guild learned ADN owner Ryan Binkley has declined our request for voluntary recognition of our union. ADN management has also hired an attorney from Littler Mendelson, a notoriously anti-union law firm.
The attempted 1st-degree murder trial of Joel Berck Young started this week in Whatcom County Superior Court. Young is accused of shooting @whatcomsheriff deputies Ryan Rathbun & Jason Thompson in their faces w/birdshot 2.5 years ago while they responded to a neighborhood dispute
Young's defense attorneys are not disputing that he shot Rathbun & Thompson, but are instead arguing that Young did not act with intent and premeditation.
Young's jury trial is expected to last a few weeks. You can read @BhamHerald's initial story here: bit.ly/4de1Iqk
