BREAKING: President Biden racks up one of his biggest victories to date as three Americans who were detained in China are released in a historic prisoner swap as a result of "years of work."
This is truly incredible and it gets even better...
"We are pleased to announce the release of Mark Swidan, Kai Li, and John Leung from detention in the Peopleโs Republic of China," said a U.S. National Security Council spokesperson. "Soon they will return and be reunited with their families for the first time in many years."
Thanks to China's extreme laws, Swidan had been sentenced to death in 2019 after being detained in 2012 on drug-related charges. Kai Li and John Leung were both arrested on espionage charges, which makes their release all the more astonishing.
Thanks to Biden, there are now no more American prisoners in China and the travel advisory to that country has been lowered to Level 2, meaning travelers should exercise caution.
