🙏for some of family in Wainright today.
Today in Wainwright with @dckurek, I met with Mayor Bruce Pugh, Fire Chief Aime Smyl, Deputy Fire Chief Wade Pillman, MLA Garth Rowswell and Reeve Mike Wildeboer of the MD of Wainwright to hear directly from the people leading this community through the tragedy at CFB Wainwright.
Our hearts are with the families of the service members we lost, and with everyone injured and still fighting for their lives. These are men and women who put on the uniform to protect our country. Their families deserve our prayers and our support.
To the firefighters, paramedics, nurses, doctors and soldiers who ran toward the fire and worked through the night: thank you. Wainwright and its base have always been critically interlinked. In the worst of moments, this community showed exactly who it is.
Conservatives will stand with Wainwright, our troops, and their families for as long as it takes.
Time to start blocking people. If you are making a shit post about CFB Wainright with ANYTHING political, BLOCKED
Maybe concern yourself with the shitshow happening in your own county. The military here in Canada notify families of casualties in person. Not in the news or here.
Why haven't Canadians been told what happened at CFB Wainwright? We have been given no details of what actually occurred, no details of casualties or even why it's necessary to parachute people into Wainwright. Why is it we are treated like mushrooms? Canada is fucked. #cdnpoli
We got another idiot here. Piss off donkey.

welp..........not to be an asshole..........but that's pretty much the state of Canadian Military.
What an absolute tragedy, prayers go out to all those involved.
A catastrophic blast at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, Alberta has reportedly resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries during a live fire military training operation.
According to local sources on base, Canadian Forces personnel had been conducting exercises over several days when an artillery projectile reportedly struck an active natural gas well on the bombing range, triggering a massive detonation.
The blast is said to have levelled nearby tactical training buildings, with subsequent fires reaching munitions storage and setting off secondary detonations across the range.
The geography and infrastructure;
➟ CFB Wainwright has a documented history of natural gas production, with approximately 180 wells reported on the military property in 2014.
➟ Military range maps identify munitions storage, pipelines and designated live fire danger areas near Peterson Pond.
➟ NASA FIRMS satellite imagery recorded multiple thermal hotspots between Peterson Pond and Jamieson Lake on October 17.
Local accounts also describe hospitals activating Code Orange protocols, mobilizing stretchers and preparing for a significant influx of casualties.
The reported gas well strike, secondary detonations and hospital emergency measures remain unconfirmed as authorities investigate the incident.
Should these reports be confirmed, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved and affected.
You’re a pretty ignorant asshole aren’t you. Make this political in the mist of a mass tragedy. Fuck right off.

The day before a potentially monumental referendum vote, in the midst of a massive independence rally, when nothing similar has happened in Canada…not suspicious at all.
Feel for her…what a colossal disaster. Goes with the rest of it I guess.
BREAKING: Katie Zacharia 'transitioning out' of job as Trump's press secretary, senior White House official tells @pdoocy
Look at this guy virtue signalling all the way from Lethbridge. The team was so brutally bad that people stopped going from the top down. It was either fold it or sell. Deb, Chris and Ed are doing a GREAT job and fans are coming back.
Weird how in 2022 @ABDanielleSmith said and has quite the video adds that Alberta is in fact open. What happened? I have a pretty good idea…
Clearly the Prime Minister fails to comprehend the immense damage his predecessor’s open border policies have had on the job and housing markets in Alberta and Canada.
All the more reason to vote yes to the first 9 referendum questions and give the Alberta government a strong mandate to take more control over our immigration system, make sure folks have to prove their citizenship in order to vote and have guest workers who are not citizens or permanent residents contribute to their health care and education costs.
Polls are open - make your voices heard Alberta!
Oh oh the seppies are already into the conspiracy theories.
Canadians in the riding of Nepean voted for Mark Carney. Canadians voted for their representative in each riding across Canada and Liberals formed government. It’s not the first time nor will it be the last time that there is/ was floor crossings. BUT you knew that…
Great read and interesting possibility for Edmonton and our military
I’m not sure the average Canadian has read the country’s Defence Industrial Strategy, or, as I understand it, the even more important press backgrounder released alongside it. But I’ve had a very senior government bureaucrat explain to me that it’s probably as close as we’ll get to understanding @MarkJCarney’s vision for the country.
It may not be, but when you read it, it does seem like a much bigger national planning document.
Political support, from all parties, for our military is essential to Canada’s success if we expect to maintain our sovereignty as a nation.
Locally, in #yeg, I haven’t felt it as much.
Very few may pay attention to these things, but Edmonton has become the home of @CanadianForces 1st Canadian Division. We are now the home of Canada’s regular-force combat arms units. These are our warfighters, and I’ve heard that the numbers could eventually grow from 6,000 in our community to 12,000 military members and their families! Not to mention the procurement opportunities.
I don’t think we fully appreciate what an extraordinary economic and strategic asset our military presence is to Edmonton.
On one issue I was personally involved in, some 30 Edmontonians and economic development-focused institutions came together on their own to petition @AndrewKnack and council to make a bid for the new global headquarters of the international Defence, Security and Resilience Bank.
An estimated 3,300 knowledge-economy jobs for downtown Edmonton. Talk about fixing your downtown.
Here’s what we asked of Mayor Knack, who sent two deputy chiefs of staff to the meeting:
Call @ABDanielleSmith and ask for her help and support to bring this bank to YEG. We have a nice mini-cluster of banking expertise and will be at the centre of military activation and major projects in the North.
BOTH call the PM together and ask him to consider this our Ann McLellan moment. He should do a solid for his old hometown.
And I genuinely believe the politics of this would have worked for everyone.
I think Premier Smith, properly asked, would have been extraordinarily supportive. And in doing so, she would have had an opportunity to demonstrate to Edmontonians just how committed she could be to our city’s success.
The mayor, too, would have had an opportunity to be seen differently by a community that may not traditionally see him as its champion. Military families, veterans, and people who place great value on service, sacrifice, remembrance and honouring those who defend our country.
Supporting our military isn’t just good economic policy. It’s good politics, across party lines.
This really does feel like an Ann McLellan moment. When CFB Calgary was consolidated into Edmonton, it was an enormously consequential decision for our city. No disrespect to Calgary, ever, but that was a defining moment for Edmonton, and I believe another such opportunity is in front of us.
The second issue I find almost worse, although entirely less significant in economic scope, is why the city dissolved the Edmonton Salutes Committee, which was an expression of our city’s support for our base, our military families and those who serve.
I want to be fair here. I’m sure some councillors are emphatically supportive. In my experience, Councillor Principe has been an emphatic supporter of our military, and surely others are too.
But the general sentiment and actions of council have not, in my view, demonstrated a particularly convincing commitment to this community or to the opportunities that come with being one of Canada’s most important military cities.
ALL orders of our political leadership need to recognize this, especially our civic leaders.
We’re not just the Oilers and WEM. We’re a proud garrison town, and our city leadership should act like it.

There's a new version of this post
Well there you go…seppies spreading bullshit misinformation. Wasn’t even a flag, just a belligerent moron who likely had way too many $20 beers. Shit for brains.
Multiple social media accounts are accusing the Oilers of kicking out a fan for waving an Alberta flag at last Saturday's game.
I reached out to the Oilers for a statement, and they responded by saying the flag wasn't the issue.
Story: dailyhive.com/edmonton/oiler…
Canada hasn’t lost the plot…this idiot brought a large flag which isn’t allowed at Roger’s Place or any other sporting venue. Was warned to put it away multiple times and didn’t listen. So police needed to intervene and kicked them out. Play stupid games get stupid results.
