Too often, Democratic campaigns show up two weeks before an election and ask voters if they have a plan to vote. And too often, we've taken our base for granted, losing ground over time with key groups—including Black men, Latino men, and Latina women. While we saw some of that support rebound in 2025, we still have a lot of trust to rebuild if we want to win durable majorities and deliver real progress. If these midterms go as well as it looks like they could (and I think we can win BIG!), my biggest worry is that too many will declare “Democrats are back, baby,” and mistake our ability to channel anti-Trump sentiment for the deeper voter trust we'll need to keep winning when the political winds shift in 2028 and beyond. That's exactly what we're trying to change with Swing Left's Ground Truth: showing up long before Election Day, listening to voters we've too often ignored, and making rebuilding trust a year-round project—not just an election-year talking point. I got to talk about what that work looks like with @StevePtweets and Sharline Chiang on @DemocracyColor Pod. âžĄïž democracyincolor.com/podepis

My latest for The @guardian. There needs to be a reckoning in Dem politics, and a large part of that is holding accountable the failed Dem SuperPAC strategy by Future Forward that failed to invest in getting out the Dem vote theguardian.com/commentisfre

The key lessons for the campaigns? 1 - Enthusiasm, unity and voter mobilization are the keys to victory 2 - Too much time and money on a tiny sliver of swing voters is a fool's errand and is NOT how the county has been won 3- More canvassing, fewer ads END
